Etihad has a close (shareholding) link with Bangkok Airways. The Etihad website speaks of ever more flexible ways of spending their air miles. I have a question to which I can't find a direct and clear answer to on their website, viz. can I use my etihad points to buy Bangkok Airways tickets, and if so how?

I'd be grateful to anyone who can help me out.

you can, but you will need to contact the Etihad FF - program customer service.

I am a BKK AIR FF-member and could easily spend my Points on Etihad or Air Berlin..... you should be able to find all those Info on Etihad's FF-flyer homepage, most probably you will have to book redemption tickets on their Partner Airlines by calling them, don't think it can be done online.

Thanks for those responses. Both say that I can use my etihad points on bkk air. Ok I'll have another search on the the etihad site for some practical info. If I fail again I hope I can find the customer service tab and ask them.

Hmmmmmm..... seems like you can only EARN miles on a lot of Partner Airlines, but redemption seems to be limited to Etihad and Air Berlin..... at least that is what their homepage says. But I guess It cannot hurt to call them to confirm...... maybe redemption is possible too, but for some reason they don't advertise that prominently on their website.....

EDIT:

Naaaaah, you can REDEEM as well ! Found it ! It indeed is hidden - they probably want that people spend miles on Eithad itself, which of course is cheaper for the Airline.

Here you go: http://www.etihadguest.com/en/earn-miles/airline/bangkok-airways/ ;-)

Errr, if you fly Bangkok Airways and mention your Etihad FF number when booking do you get tier miles on your Etihad account?

I would think so. Presumably also the other way around, i.e. flying etihad you should be able to specify you want miles on Bangkok Airway. The airlines seem to have a corporate link.
