fstarbkk
Isn't this charming! I thoroughly enjoyed this public display of red-shirts exercising their democratic right to assault and battery! The longer I watch this, the more I see a striking resemblance to another political movement's rise to power in 1930's Europe. If the plot plays out the same way, we'll soon see reports of non-red shopkeepers dragged into the street and their businesses set on fire, with the authorities standing around, wringing their hands.

Popular Post bigbamboo
If this video does do viral it will make calling Thais jerks look almost restrained. Tough job ahead for the Ministry of Thainess' propaganda department now with the world looking on at Thailand's criminal police, endemic corruption, mistreatment of elephants, human trafficking, widespread prostitution, polluted beaches, assorted tourist scams and now beating up Buddhist monks. Goebbels had it easy compared to this.
leesgems
Thai monks should keep to doing monk-like things and keep their nose out of politics. Amazing all the Thaivisa experts having an orgasm over this. Didn't see much written by these same exerts over the taxi driver beaten into a coma by PDRC or the under cover police beaten by PDRC guards and then interrogated by that rat- bag monk who set up the stage at Chaeng Wattana. It is not fair to compare a taxi driver or an undercover cop to a monk. Reds are desperate while they watch themselves lose in the political game so they resort to violence, once again. Popular Post Spartakos
Seems the reds don't need Buddhism any longer, they've got Thaksin to worship.
Popular Post djjamie
According to Komchadluek (in Thai) , there was a scuffle between red shirts and PDRC in Nonthaburi area, the monk happened to walk into the scene, asked people to stop beating each other. He was accused by red shirts of being PDRC in disguise then got assaulted. Sad thing is plenty of police were present at the scene, but they did nothing - just watched the incident as spectators. It would not have surprised me in the slighted had some fake farmers come in to defend the fake monk from the very real violence being perpetrated against him. Put that to Benny Hill music in fast forward and it typifies the PTP logic in motion. Glad the monk is safe and I hope the red shirts were arrested for assault.

Popular Post brewsterbudgen
Pretty pathetic how both sides latch on to any provocative video or incident to justify their point of view. Why not condemn violence on all sides?
Popular Post animatic
Anyone who's core message can not stand up to opposing views and must stifle them with violence has a defective message, that they are trying violently to deliver, or make be the ONLY message heard. This has been the Red Shirts modus operandi, since before they were called Red Shirts, and were still un-coagulated roving bands of northern dissenters. Before Thaksin gave them a central leadership to direct their malevolence.

Popular Post bigbamboo
This so called monk "approached the Redshirts before berating them for their actions and making other impolite remarks". Where in the monk's code of conduct does it allow berating and making impolite remarks. Reports of monks molesting children, selling drugs, etc. are commonplace in Thailand. This monk was not acting like a monk & therefore was not treated like a monk. I suppose he was a monk from the Luang Pu Issara school of monk hood, i.e. leading a heavily armed group of terrorists to break the law on a daily basis. I'm sure he wasn't alone.... that old lady with a walking stick in the shadows looked threatening for a start. She could have hobbled over and got involved at any moment. No wonder the mob of red shirts felt they had to protect themselves the way they did.

Popular Post lungmi
24 years ago I have been short time farang baby monk in Thailand. What I learnt is the basic Teaching of the Buddha. Learn to see "what is what". Then: Open mind, open heart, open mouth. This monk did it. I'm with him.
