advice on crossing into Malaysia with motorbike

I just spent half a year of torture getting the paperwork done for this, have Thai driver's licence, papers are in my name, everything seems complete, but was suggested by the seller that I go to Satun to get the bike inspected and in final order. But I'd like to drive down the east coast instead, as I am doing now. Possible to do the same in Narathiwat, for example? It's an old Honda Dream and a bit beaten up. Have a couple of weeks to get it sorted and finalised but not sure where exactly to go. Thank you for any suggestions you might have! Karel (travel goof)
