has any one had any problems with exploits in picture, music or video formats?

If so what client has been used to open the files and what has it done?

I am interested as I have read recently that a large percentage of files on the peer to peer networks are supposedly compromised. I use winamp for my mp3 files, and irfanview for my images and have not noticed anything untoward?

the only time I have seen anything remotely like an exploit is with some mpeg files, when I open them with mediaplayer 6.4 they will open up a browser window and try and access a site on the internet. I know media player can be used as a shell, but are people writing exploits to take advantage of this?

If an MP3 opens a net access, you have got it set to automatically download appropriate codecs.

Check that and it will ask you to go and check in future.
