Hi,

The central locking is not working on my pickup. I am guessing it is the motor? Sometimes when i lock/unlock the doors, the 2 front doors lock/unlock. However since i got a garage to check it out, only the drivers door locks/unlocks.

If it is the motor, do i need to order 1 motor, or is there a motor for each door?

All help appreciated

Thanks

Every door has an actuator (if thats the right word) and those things are cheap. But if several doors at the same time don't work it is probably the wiring who's the culprit or a fuse.

Most locking mechanisms have vacuum actuated door locks, at least the Euros do so an air line failure or disconnection (more common in older VW's the airlines dry out and shrink over-stressing them) could cause the problem otherwise more likely a switch. What car? How old etc.?

The driver's door master actuator usually has a switch in it that in turn triggers the other door(s) - this is why manually locking/unlocking the driver's door does the whole car.. If your driver's door is working but not the other, it could mean the master actuator needs replacing, the wiring has issues, or just that the slave actuator in the passenger door is on the way out.....

Note that Thai pickups all use electric actuators - not vacuum.

The car is a Mazda 4x4, 14 years old.
