Hello,

I am in Samui and I would like to buy a new Honda PCX 150

Should I go Maenam, Nathon, should I order from Bangkok?

Anything to know before buying?
Thank you!

are they not same family, if so price would be same, if you want details on buying from BKK post Brian at forum sponser on motor bike forum. I get my spares from him sent to Pattaya. As to the level of service you will get from a Samui dealer from a bike purchased in BKK who knows. You would also have a Bangkok number plate not Surat one. Not a problem but I prefer having a number where I live.

Brian will give you all info buying outside Samui and probably cheaper but postage will be at least 3000 baht.

Dump the stock tyres they are rubbish in the wet, i got some wider softer compound IRC from Sumet.

Honda Maenam, has been great for service, for me.... no complaints at all ....To keep your warranty they should (or another Honda Dealer) must do the stuff that needs to be done.... and fill in the book.... as for rates their always good on doing this... thumbsup.gif (no idea if Nathon same same, but depends where convenient to you really.)

I really don't think there is a huge if any difference in price, especially if you take into account shipping from else where... Compare apples with apples, i.e. the type of wheels you get... I think there are three choices of models...(modifications)

Can't say I have had a problem with stock tires... rare tire gets about 12,000 kms...replaced twice now... (I think front are still original ? I forget now! facepalm.gif)

30,000 plus kms on my 125 upgraded PCX ...has been and is a good bike! thumbsup.gif

Honda Samui, both shops charge way over the top for new bikes.I saved a lot of money buying my CBR in Surat something to the tune of 11k.

As for service & warranty work, don't make a difference where you buy it, they still get paid by Honda & you.

I went to the main dealer in Surat next to the courthouse, painless.

The Motorbike shop opposite the school in Ban Thai, before you come into Maenam from Nathon are the cheapest on Samui. You get mainland prices, expect to save around 6000 baht on a new PCX compared to the Maenam/Nathon dealers, delivery usually takes about 3 days as they order them in.

That would be worth checking out for sure, when I got mine, from Maenam dealer, about 3 years ago.... the Ban Thai shop were not interested in selling PCX period... and neither was the dealer down by the Bophut lights... but lots has changed since then... they are quite a popular bike now so every one on the band wagon! !

Thanks for your answers

I might go Surat

For the shops before Honda Maenam, do you know if it is easy to apply warranty at Honda Maenam (same guarantee)?
Is it as easy as at Honda for the ownership papers, plates, ...?

Thanks!

Honda warranty would be Thailand wide....

All I can add is that Honda Maenam, look after all the details, re plates etc....but I would guess they all do... as they would have to issue the red plates for you to drive off the lot....

It will be interesting to see what difference in price you find in Surrat... Hope you post that for us! And which model you choose, as they do vary! (type of wheels etc)

Thanks,

Will keep you posted.

I will only go Surat Thani is the diff is quite big compared to Honda or the other shop you told me.

Example if official Honda is 82000, other shop 78000, and Surat 75000, I am not sure I will go Surat. If Surat is 72000 I may but I doubt such diff. :)

Thanks

Coming from Chaweng the shop will be on your left, a little bit before the police station on your right.

Thank you! I will go.

I was also looking for Surat Thani dealer phone number, can't find, if anyone has it, or how to find it...

I have one ending by 521, given by Honda CAR in Surat Thani, but it does not answer.

Thanks again. No urgence..!

Roo, thanks for the phone #.

Philthebook, thanks for asking! So seems at Honda Maenam/Nathon it is 83k

80k at Suppakit

And 79500 in Surathani.

So seems to be worth to go Suppakit... when they receive them... Will try to go and book one...
Thanks!

Lady at Honda Nathon was very nice and said she has many on order and many already reserved, the lady at Suppakit was not so helpful and just said 'no hab', personally I would pay the extra 3k and get it from Honda Nathon because of the customer service and they are an official dealership, but 'up to you' hehe

Sorry I did not take the phone numbers but I am sure you can find Honda Nathon number online, she speaks very good English, see what freebies come with it, there are nice PCX helmets available

Farang logic not Thai, also they lost the profit on the sale of the new bike. Theory yes practice no, and think first service since its just an oil change the dealer stands the cost.

Certainly working for one of worlds largest vehicle manufacturers, vehicles bought from the competition never got same treatment as those purchased where being serviced.

Main dealers would also be effected by sales performance imposed by Honda. Load of crap but true.

I bought mine in Maenam because I liked the lady there who was exceptionally helpful, however, I get it serviced in Nathon as it is nearer to where I live, and the crew there have been equally very pleasant and helpful. I understand that both shops are owned by the same people. I have done less than 7,500 and to my amazement I have worn out both front and back tyres; I confess to living on a very steep hill and having the fat bitch on the back clearly takes its toll. However, the tyres on my previous bike, an Airblade, lasted 15,000 kms - make what you will of that.

Crap stock tyres off the production line, treat yourself to some IRC wider softer compounds, massive difference.
