Reall confused about ASEAN

ASEAN is about sustaining economic growth and peace through common agreements, reached between all member countries.

There is an argument to say that with the modern electronic age, this in itself forces change to this aim with common standards a result. There are other drivers too, in corporate boardrooms and political committees who recognise English language being the accepted professional standard in this ASEAN state.

Some standards like communications are driven out of necessity but there are still others which recognise differences existing between each member country.
