GMP everywhere!

In Thailand am I right in thinking that the GMP letters that are quite proudly stamped on many products means the same as it does everywhere else "genetically modified product"?

It's interesting to see GMP certified on so many products. It sold much like organic is in the west , something companies use to help sell their product.

However on the west GMP is something companies definitely try to hide.

It is definitely the same meaning here right ?
