I am trying to get my hands on the diff that has exposed axles. so I can shorten the axles without interfering with the crown and pinion housing...

Doesn't a "second generation" 1984- 19?? BMW 3 series have the same type of diff? Might be easier to find than a 180? Lots of old 316's in Thailand.

I have a MX5 diff if that is of any use. It is not an LSD but the standard diff from my 1989 MX5 that i replaced with an LSD when they became available a few years later. It's done about 15,000 Kl..
