Appreciate some advice please, suddenly getting the above message, not every time, but quite often.

What's wrong, what can I do?

Is there a good computer shop in Chiang Mai where I can go for some advice and a fix?

Any information appreciated. Thanks.

Usually we like to know

  1. What type of system (Make/Model/OS version)
  2. ISP, speed and type of service (adsl, cable broadband, fttx, Wireless Internet, 3G, etc)
  3. Browsers you've tried

Also,

  • Is this issue seen on ALL internet websites or just some (in-Country vs International websites)
  • Does this issue affect just this computer/device or do other devices have the exact same issue?
  • If this is a laptop, can you connect to a WiFi Hotspot or other type of Internet Connection somewhere else and always experience the same issue?

Issues like this could be caused by:

- Flaky ISP service or customer premises equipment

- DNS server overload or unreliability ( can you try other DNS servers, like: 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 (Google) 117.121.222.222 / 117.121.210.110 (3BB) 203.113.24.199 / 203.113.24.199 (TOT)

- Packet Loss

If only one computer/device affected:

- Virus, Malware or System glitch/misconfiguration

As you might guess from this I think some troubleshooting should be done first before you bring in the local dorks.

Shouldn't these be different IP addresses?

203.113.24.199 / 203.113.24.199 (TOT)

Yep, forgot to verify.

203.113.24.199 / 203.113.127.199 (TOT)

Please keep in mind that the local dorks can't read English.

And i thought my computer skills were insufficient.,just met an Irish guy with some computer problems, when I was asking him what computer system he had, he answered Google.Oh, god, please help us all.facepalm.gif

It's DNS - use a public provider like google (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4) or similar.

If you're on True, this could be their captive portal trying to kick in (when you try to go to a page and it instead displays Trues' <deleted>).....refresh and move on in that case.

Use an App called ZenMate for Chrome..... [if you use chrome browser]

ThaiVisa is nothing but a pain to open with a Thai ISP.... The Thai website one2car = cannot be displayed more time than not, yet use Germany or UK, 1st click they open fast... ThaiVisa opens fastest on Singapore ISP and one2car on UK

and yes I use 8.8.8.8 and still get on loads of sites 'cannot be displayed' or timed out....[click refresh sometimes will open sometimes not after 5 x refresh]....... problem has been for past 4 or 5 weeks, is it True ? something I have done to my PC ?

will zenmate work with true's network? i.e. will it allow users to access sites such as netflix in thailand?

No other option in over 10 years where I live but True, works fine for me......

For years used 'Hotspot Shield' for sites that were a problem to open, Zenmate is easier and as I use chrome anyway.

OP: probably nothing wrong with your computer...it's probably just a funky/slow internet connection, especially if you are getting the page error when trying to visit international websites. And if the problem becomes more pronounced in the evening up to around midnight then that's even more of an indication it's just a funky internet connection...nothing wrong with your computer...may need to complain to your internet service provider.

I get this problem when trying to use Nationwide Banking.

I am using Windows 7 and Internet explorer 9 .

I think the apartment has True and speed is normally between 5 and 18 meg.

When using Google chrome I have no problem.so it is a problem with Explorer.

Got the "Use SSL and TLS" box's ticked in internet security.

It could be that you have a corrupt hosts file. Since I do this periodically anyway I would run CCleaner to clear the computer's host file and other files that remember where you've been.

You can get it here: http://download.cnet.com/CCleaner/

Be careful when you install. They like to add freeware that you don't want. Simply decline the normal installation each time, and check custom, and then you can uncheck whatever they are trying to give you. They don't give you malware, just other programs you probably don't want or need.

First run the cleaner, and then run the registry cleaner. It's a fine and free program.

I run CCleaner about every 3 days. Also replace registry files that go missing.

I was reading Microsoft web site that they are aware of the problem and trying to sort a fix.

So I just have to us Google Chrome for know for banking.

Maybe someone fixed something ?

ThaiVisa and one2car both opened 1st time with True this morning, ZenMate is switched off....

As for cleaners use Advanced SystemCare 7 PRO [the paid version] have done for some years and different versions of Windows.

When using IE with some sites you have to set that site to "compatibility mode" in IE, like usually when accessing/using Bangkok Bank ibanking....you can access their public webpages no problem but it's just when logging onto their ibanking which then switches to https mode. I use to use IE as my primary browser for many years and had this issue with some sites, but setting that site to compatibility mode in IE fixed the issue each time. I now use Chrome as my primary browser but still use IE11 as my secondary browser since Chrome has issues with some sites where IE don't...and supposedly IE11 is a little more secure than Chrome.
