hire car in Laos

Is it possible to hire a car in Laos and if so what are the requirements as reguards driving licence, i.e. Thai, international etc.?Can it be dropped off at another re-entry point?

I've been renting from them for 10 years now, good folks, good maintenance on their vehicles. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. I usually get a vehicle with driver, saves me all the worries about accident liability.
