TAT new slogan - Thailand - Land of Scowls - I know this one has been done to death BUT - I think that the long drawn-out political impasse - almost 8 years now with no end in sight, coupled with a very long, hot summer, rising food and fuel prices, grumpy taxi drivers etc. are getting a few people down - but there are less frowns and more smiles at the end of the working day than in the morning- well at least that is how it appears to me. I don't think the frowns are meant for you particularly.

If it's scowls you want, try living in the non-touristy Thai south. Strewth!

Perhaps it's just you, or just me, but I get smiles most of the time, indifference the rest of the time.

Ann and i were in BKK on Sunday and she told me she did not see any one smile.Must be real for a Thai lady to notice.

There are big problems ahead, the red shirt/yellow shirt, Thaksin, Yingluck, STOP Bangkok protests etc etc are nothng compared with what is coming. That's probably why there is a frown. Cup half full, cup half full.
