P45Mustang
Lukaku Saga for the benefit of carmine. 4-2-3-1 Single striker options: Costa. Drogba Torres 4-3-3 Frontline of 3 can be chosen from any of these: Costa. Torres. Drogba, Schurrle. Hazard. Willian. Salah. Chalobah. It would be nice to have Lukaku as well as these options but Lukaku wants to be first choice striker which Mourinho won’t give him. Costa is focal point. He can provide, and he can score on his own. Perfect. My guess is, if we don’t sell Torres and get somebody else in this window, Mourinho will review progress at Christmas. In the meantime, Chelsea will score many goals from many different sources, as we have shown preseason. Costa can do everything Lukaku does, and much more. Mourinho knows this. £35mil out, £28mil in. Net spend £7mil. Happy Christmas. Edited August 1, 2014 by P45Mustang

Chicog
No loss really, he's been poor for a while now. Maybe a change of scenery will resurrect his career, or at least he'll get a decent whack as a bench warmer.Surprised Manchester Dhabi aren't in for him. I think this may be a case of "up yours Jose" I very much doubt it tbh. Much more likely that City owners might see it as a useful temporary loan and Lampard is contracted to do what they want. On the other hand, it might all be a load of baloney, because Lampard is reported as saying he doesn't want to play against Chelsea as a City player. Whatever the story is, Lampard left Chelsea because his time at the top level was over. If City want him then it clearly says something more about City not Chelsea. As for the discussion about City being a bigger club than Toure...fact is all the top teams would be well happy if Toure went to PSG. Same as they are that Suarez left Liverpool. Need to get some true perspective and not cloud the hard nosed reality with sentimental or other misguided ballacks.

Lovren is 16m plus addons. Can was 8.75m. If addons are paid, then we are Champions so I don't mind that. Still barely touched the 60m in transfer budget. But hope we will! P45Mustang
Er....yes carmine. You are right about the net spend thingy. There are similarities however between the Spurs' Bale sale and the Liverpool Suarez sale. All depends what you do with the er....money. Eto'o is on a free, but is asking big wages I believe. Old man with walking stick better than Soldado probably.

Chicog
Jack Rodwell has arrived in Sunderland as Gus Poyet closes in on a deal for the Manchester City midfielder. Sunderland have been in advanced talks for the England international and a fee has been agreed between the two clubs on a five-year contract. The 23-year-old made just 10 appearances for City last season having been hampered by a series of injuries since his arrival from Everton in a £12million move in the summer of 2012. The arrival of Fernando from Porto has increased the competition for places in City's star-studded line-up. The Southport-born player is keen for regular first-team football as he looks to kick-start his career and boost his chances of adding to his three England caps, the last of which came against Brazil in a friendly at the Maracana in June 2013. Poyet's transfer business so far this summer has been of the low-key variety, with Jordi Gomez, Billy Jones and Costel Pantilimon signing on free transfers and Chelsea fringe player Patrick van Aarnholt also arriving. A £14m move for Fabio Borini, who spent last season in Wearside on loan, has stalled after he suffered a shoulder injury during Liverpool's pre-season tour of the United States. P45Mustang
Chelsea buy expensive, but if a player is going to be stuck on the bench with damage to his career they do the honourable thing and loan him out.
