Identify this bug? Dogs are scared of it

They usually play with the local bugs and beetles. This one they're keeping clear of.

Don't know what it is but by the looks of the thorns on it would not be nice on the nose/tongue, even if not a poison danger, so suspect the dogs have it right.

Seen several around lately. Looks like a type of wood beetle but can't find a match up yet on Google images.

these are the ones that come from the giant white witchity grubs (i think) as i had dozens in my compost pile a few month ago.

notorious wood eaters, they are on my hit list, living in a tree house myself.

Yep, it's a skunkbug (Lat. Creepus Stinkus) and when it's drunk it's even more foul, especially in the mouth. Lots of those in Pattaya.

Adult Stem Borer beetle.

Lay their eggs on the end og twigs, larvae bore into the twig and then eat their way inside of the plant stem. Best I can find out the pupal stage is spent insdie of the stem and then the adult cuts a larger hole and leaves the stem. Kills the stem/branch.

Only time an insecticide can get them is when the adult is outside.the plant.

I respectfully disagree. It appears to be a common Bore Beetle of the Know-it-all Family. This pest makes it home in electronic devices that are connected to social networks. It's bite causes the victim to know everything about all things and to be able to see into the future, solve crimes and pass judgement without any facts.

The only known cure is a complete removal of access to electronic devices other than a coffee maker, microwave or toaster.

It is found world-wide, but primarily in climates with a high percentage of alcohol and uncivil populations.
