Is there any way that the majority of this site can be divorced from the Thai News and any other pages that are likely to come under the army's latest announcement, threat, warning, whatever that social media will be closed down for content they consider inappropriate.

It would be a shame if the whole site was taken off because of some silly bugger posting the wrong thing and it slipping past.

Hi,

Yes, it is worrisome, but most members behave well. All news items posted by our News admins are screened and should be clean.

We have both manual moderation 24/7 and some automatic keyword based moderation in place. We kindly ask our members to use the report button if you see anything not suitable.

Thank you!

When they say Social Media I think they're referring to Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc. rather than forums such as this. I doubt this is very high on their radar, but still sensible to be careful as G mentioned.

Why post it on an open forum. sad.png

Perhaps, send an PM to "whom it may concern" and not "SHOUT ALL ABOUT IT".

Please close and delete this thread.

I thank you all.

This was a reasonable concern, responsibly voiced.

Decisions re locking or deleted threads rest with the Moderators.

One of The Thai officials responsible for the Internet in Thailand today admitted that it is impossible to block any Web sites that use servers outside of Thailand.

Do I remember right that the Thaivisa forum server is in Singapore?

Yes hosted from Singapore, but the authorities are within their powers to instruct ISPs to restrict access from within Thailand :(
