webfact
Army to "Reconsider" PCAD Wanted List: DSIBy Khaosod EnglishBANGKOK — The military will deliberate on whether to suspend arrest warrants for anti-government activists, said chief of the Division of Special Investigation.Tharit Pengdith said he has instructed officials to submit all arrest warrants for leads of the anti-government People's Committee for Absolute Democracy With the King As Head of State (PCAD) to the army tomorrow for "consideration.""The DSI is willing to proceed with whatever actions [the military] deems appropriate," Mr. Tharit said. The comment came a day after Mr Tharit attended a meeting with army chief Gen. Prayuth, who declared martial law before dawn on Tuesday with the stated aim of preventing violent clashes between pro- and anti-government protest groups.Media reports indicate that Gen. Prayuth scolded Mr. Tharit in yesterday’s meeting for the arrest warrants on more than 30 PCAD leaders and activists, who are wanted on insurrection charges and other offences related to their campaign against the government.Gen. Prayuth allegedly told Mr. Tharit that the mass arrest warrants are a "mess" and are not constructive to the army's effort to find a peaceful solution to the country's crisis. He also reportedly asked Mr. Tharit to cease his duty as the DSI chief. In an interview today, Mr. Tharit admitted that Gen. Prayuth expressed his wish that the arrest warrants be "delayed."Mr. Tharit stressed that he was not intent on hunting down the leaders of the opposition, and that he was merely performing his duty as the head of the law enforcement agency."If we do not proceed with the arrest warrants, we might be held accountable for negligence of duty," Mr. Tharit said.Nevertheless, he said he has decided to "suspend" the summons warrant on Senate Speaker Surachai Liangboonlertchai, who was wanted on charges of insurrection for privately meeting with PCAD leader Suthep Thaugsuban at the Parliament earlier this month.Source: http://en.khaosod.co.th/detail.php?newsid=1400664410 -- Khaosod English 2014-05-

Popular Post IAMSOBAD
Put him in jail with all of his CAPO cronies for disobeying a direct order. Still today after being told to STOP IT...he had a PDRC leader arrested at the airport. But he has NEVER arrested a murderer or red shirt leader for wanting civil war???

Popular Post TimCM
So will he also be reconsidering the murder charges that suthep and Abhisit have been too busy to show up for? Somehow I doubt that either of these 2 will ever be charged when they should be sharing a cell with certain red leaders. Looking more like a coup by the hour with selective laws being applied. No wonder certain people looked so happy when this happened

Very scared...
Popular Post Dogmatix
Time to scratch out the names of PDRC leaders and substitute red shirt leaders. Also time for Tarit to move to an inactive position or at least make him do the proper work of the DSI which is things that the police refuse to investigate like human rights cases and cases involving policemen. Hopefully the investigation on the source of wealth used to buy his resort in Khao Yai will make some progress under martial law.

He was scared enough of the Dems to cooperate with them fully and attack red shirt leaders when Abhisit was PM. He is probably negotiating to change sides again but I doubt if anyone wants this worm now. Better to crush him with criminal charges for corruption and malfeasance. Must be plenty of dirt on him.

That is going to heal all wounds for sure! Where did it say anything about Amnesty? On top of that, you of course don't (want to) remember that the court already decided that the demonstration was peaceful and that in a democracy people have the right to demonstrate? The warrants for insurrection are stupid and illegal, and they were fabricated by your buddy Chalerm to incite unrest.

smutcakes
Surely amongst all that needs to be done, this should not exactly be top of the list considering it takes years for any court case to actually proceed (TS and YS aside that is)
Thailand
All arrest warrants should be suspended and then amnesty given to all plus large amounts of money to compensate for the inconvenience suffered by all these poor things who have completely cocked up the country over the past few months.
Popular Post djjamie
He is called the Chameleon for a reason and the above reflects why. In 2008 to 2011 he went after the DEM opposition and red shirts with a vengeance. It was not just his job, it was his passion. He wanted everyone that was against the DEM persecuted. Him and his team were responsible for 281 cases against red shirts. He was a brilliant lap dog. In 2011 to 2014 he did his chameleon trick and backed the Shin's. He went after the PTP opposition with a vengeance. It was not just his job, it was his passion. He wanted everyone that was against the PTP persecuted. He started piling on the cases against the PDRC. He also cut red shirt political cases from the 281 during AV's tenure to 48 cases 2 years ago to just four cases last year. In fact, even YS benefited as Tarit chose to drop her asset concealment case. That’s called switching sides to save your hide. He was a brilliant lap dog. Now we are at today. Just over 24 hours after martial law as implemented and Tarit bends to his new master. How many cases where there pending for the PDRC? How many cases will he cut if he remains the Generals lap dog? Will he bring the red shirt cases back? Rest assured though that if the Prayuth remains his boss or a "neutral" PM takes command he will back at the feet of his new master ready to fetch the morning newspaper (with his tongue of course) on his new bosses orders. Tarit is a chameleon. Put him in front of a tartan rug and he would die of exhaustion.

Baerboxer
Tharit is a disgraceful attack dog. So if anyone meets privately with Suthep then that's insurrection? According to Tharit it is. But, meeting with a convicted criminal fugitive in person and communicating regularly with him is fine. So is openly calling for armed insurrection, rebellion and a separate breakaway kingdom, providing your on the "right' side, of course. Tharit's "judgement" is as colorful as his interpretations of certain words like "perjury". Tharit has vied with Chalerm for the most intimidating and outrageous statements on behalf of the now dissolved CAPO. Now, perhaps he'll help Chalerm account for the budget that's been "spent".

That is going to heal all wounds for sure! They don't have to worry about the other side. There aren't vast amounts of warrants outstanding. CAPO, Chalerm and Tharit only pursued those lawfully opposing the Shin regime. The General was so right in quickly dissolving this ludicrous attack weapon of PTP masquerading as a peace and order entity. Wonder if Chalerm was able to predict the declaration of martial law? He was always so good at predicting the attacks on innocent protesters.

Pursue the warrants against both sides -- old, new and forgotten. Let the democratic institution of the courts decide what is BS, what has evidence instead of hearsay, and nail the slobs on both sides who use the courts as a nightstick to blindside their opponents. It is the judge's jobs: let them do it. If they show impartiality, it would a long way toward healing the nation. A very long way. Let the cards play and chips fall where they may.
