Visa options for 10 week stay

Featured Replies

#1 the consulate wont need that long to give a visa, #2 delta wont care about less than 10 weeks because they are thai citizens and cant be refused entry. but phone them for confirmation

If they use their US passports and enter Thailand on them they fall under immigration rules the same as any foreigner.

They don't need visas because they can enter on an expired passport..

How would they return to the US if they used Thai Passports to enter Thailand, They cannot use the Thai Passport to enter the US because there would be no visa in it. Just asking because I am thinking of moving to Thailand with my Thai wife who will have a US passport, plus a valid Thai passport, I know she could enter on Thai passport, but I don't think she could make a trip back to the US without an Immigration stamp in her US passport. Any help here, thank you

There is no problem at all...

Enter Thailand with Thai passport, no problem what so ever... ( if you have Thai nationality ) don't show your US passport at arrival. ( also having Thai ID card with you ? )

Enter US with US passport , no problem what so ever... ( if you have US citizenship ) don't show your Thai passport at arrival.

The only question ; how come the Thai passports have been expired and not renewed ???

My wife (37 yo) and daughter ( 8 yo) both have expired Thai passports and current US Passports. We live in the US. They are both planning to stay in Thailand for 10 weeks this summer. What are their options for entering and staying in Thailand (legally) for those 10 weeks. TIA for any advice. They will be traveling June 11th.

Your wife and daughter have Thai passports, although expired.

Therefore they are regarded as Thai citizens.

Therefore they do not need a visa to enter Thailand even with expired Thai passports.

On entry they may be told they should get new Thai passports while they are here in Thailand,

But that won't affect their entry status.

They are Thai, and can enter Thailand even on an expired Thai passport.

In fact, getting a new Thai passport for both of them while they are in Thailand would be a good idea, because the new Thai passports now can use the automatic entry gates at the airport.

They just scan their new passport and enter automatically when the gate clicks open.

With those new passports, no need for them to wait in a long queue.
