What is the bag/weight allowance for Thai airway transferring to Air canada: Bkk--HK--Vancouver-Victoria? Or maybe I should ask how strict are they?

I seem to always see people with more than the standard allowance. I called TG to ask and they said I have to call air Canada because the weight I check in at Suwanaphum will be determined by the AC flight I am connecting to in HK.

I have 1h 40min in HK to make the Air Canada connection, both in terminal 1. When I called TG they said it should be enough time for checked-in baggage to make the connection.

But if I arrive in Victoria and find that my luggage didn't make it, what is the procedure, is there a number to call?

Would it make any difference to inform them at check in at Suwanaphum that I only have 1h 40 min when I arrive to HK? I guess they can't put a 'rush' on the bag or something?

Thanks

Not exactly sure what the weight allowance is but see if you can find out for sure. Last month coming from Sydney to BKK the woman at Thai Air actually weighed my carry on and said I had just made it. I only had my lap top, travel docs, cell phone and a paperback book in it. So I think they are getting tighter. But that was Thai not air Canada

pretty lazy, OP, are you not? Ever heard about google? you would find http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelinfo/airport/baggage/checked.html for air canada allowed baggage....

whether 1:40 is enough for your luggage to make the connecting flight or not depends on the way the airport staff works HK. Having both flights in Terminal 1 is not important, as the luggage might be processed in a completely different terminal.

If you arrive and don't find your luggage, go to lost&found in Victoria and report the missing bags, showing the luggage tags from checkin in BKK, then they will track. Depending on the airline / airport, they might bring them home / to your hotel or just give you a call that you can pick them up... customer service is different in many places of the world...

Priority / Rush labels are normally not given, except when you fly Business or higher (and then you get them anyway)... and at the end, it depends on the check-in staff who - as you leave from a Thai airport - will tell you...

THAI carry on allowance is 7kg; however...

With THAI, it seems to depend on which airport you are departing from. I have never been weighed departing from BKK, Shanghai or Hong Kong, but when I was departing from Osaka, they weighed my carry-on and had me transfer some stuff -- to my carry-on "personal item". I was still over the carry-on allowance, but they let it slide, maybe in part because I told them that THAI let me fly outbound with the exact same carry on contents that I was trying to bring on my return flight. It could also be partly because I have Star Gold status, so get to go through most of the business class lines.

The other thing is that looks are important; I have packed 15kg of camera gear in a smallish backpack, and never had issues, but put 10kg in a professional-looking hard case, and they will weigh it.

Can't say what Air Canada with do -- never flew them, so may not be that useful to the poster on their transfer.

Since Vancouver is your first port of entry into Canada, you have to pick up your own checked luggage after clearing immigration. You then need to drop them off to Air Canada for your Victoria flight.
