POMC orders DSI chief to stop issuing warrants for PDRC leaders
THE NATION

NATIONAL POLICE chief Adul Saengsingkaew yesterday denied that Army chief Prayuth Chan-ocha has ordered Department of Special Investigation (DSI) chief Tarit Pengdith to revoke arrest warrants for People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) leaders wanted on sedition charges.

Adul said Prayuth, who is director of the Peace and Order Maintaining Command (POMC), only instructed Tarit to suspend issuing new arrest warrants for other PDRC leaders. Police would continue prosecution of those for whom warrants were already in play.

"Arrest warrants on sedition charges have a 20-year statute of limitations. Police will also proceed with prosecution of other criminal cases that took place during the rallies," Adul said.

The police chief denied reports that the military and police were at loggerheads over the current political situation, insisting both had "good, mutual understanding".

He said that during the imposition of martial law, soldiers would solely be in charge of overseeing political rallies. Police have withdrawn their personnel at all security checkpoints.

He denied the military took over because police were incompetent, noting that political conflict was a delicate matter that had continued for years.

Tarit said Immigration Police arrested PDRC leader Seri Wongmonta at Suvarnabhumi Airport after he returned from the United States. He said Seri was wanted on sedition charges and police would have faced accusations of dereliction of duty if they had not arrested him. He said Seri would be sent to the Criminal Court.

Tarit said the DSI would follow the policy issued by the POMC not to arrest other PDRC leaders. He would submit arrest warrants for more than 20 PDRC leaders who have not yet been arrested to Prayuth for consideration.

Tarit said he would also suspend the summons for acting Senate Speaker Surachai Liengboon-lertchai over allegations that he backed PDRC chief Suthep Thaugsuban over his alleged sedition activities.

Most of the charges are "politically motivated" anyway which apparently doesn't count according to Tarit's boss, or just straight up bullying. So they should be suspended or turfed altogether.

Tarit should be the one up on multiple charges. Would love to see him waddling around the yard, ball and chain, breaking rocks.

Tarit reminds me of the old black and white movie ' The Man Who Never Was '.

Here's a crooked cop if you want one. Hope we won't have to wait long to see Tarit in prison. Next Chalerm please.

No, I would say Jatuporn and Gotee have priority Number 1 to be arrested, the rest can follow suit later...

That mutual understanding being, the military tells the police what to do and the police agree to do it.

'.....Dereliction of duty.....' - the ultimate example of the pot calling the kettle black.

"He denied the military took over because police were incompetent, noting that political conflict was a delicate matter that had continued for years." It's good to know he hasn't lost his sense of humor!

He denied the military took over because police were incompetent

Probably accurate, if he had said the military took over because the police were in Thaksins pocket, that would have been the real reason.

I can't wait to see Suthep and his thugs arrested. Many citizens will be happy to see that justice is served. I will go celebrate at the bar that day. LOL

and you will be happy to see all there followers go mad in the streets on BKK

Suthep ordered his thugs to set them up. It was caught on the camera.

I would say that the number of arms seizures since Martial Law was declared vs the number of arrests when the police were in charge speaks volumes.

Another statistic would be the number of arrest warrents that Tharit has signed against anti-government supporters vs everybody else would be something like 99:1 - enough to charge him with abuse of power.

Proof please.. everyone with a bit of brains knows that almost all deaths occurred at the anti government protests. People have seen red leaders gloat over the deaths of children in Trad only to be hushed by others because of the PR disaster. So we know what side promotes and acts violent, and we have seen multiple findings of weapon caches on their side and in one of their politicians cars.

So that was all planted and the anti government all did it themselves. Everyone with half a brain knows the reds are terrorists and the police supported them, the army finding all those weapons all the time proves this.

It must be great to be red.. you can switch off your brain all the time.

And they will all wear red shirts at the celebration party. Will you be there too.Lol.

Very amazing country, during 6 month Police no work on different terrorist / murders cases, they only try to suppress opponent of their boss..... Since Army take in charge security , these case seem to make headway quickly

He denied the military took over because police were incompetent, noting that political conflict was a delicate matter that had continued for years.

The police are incompetent and corrupt to the core. They have been bought and paid for by Thaksin. Tarit should be up on charges of abuse of power and stripped of his rank and job.

If Thailand ever hopes to move forward, one of the high priority items that must be addressed and implemented is a total, top to bottom, reform of the police and the whole justice system.

I knew you would miss the news. I wouldn't be surprised. It must be great to be PDRC. You can break the laws and not go to jails. LOL

The army can find arms that the police could not, when the army starts to enforce the arrest warrants then there will be full holding cells.

I can't wait to see Suthep and his thugs arrested. Many citizens will be happy to see that justice is served. I will go celebrate at the bar that day. LOL

You are living in dreamland.

It is never going to happen, Suthep will serve not a single day in prison.

Everything has been trumped up, and the military want Thaksin out of the picture for good, because they know with no Thaksin, less pressure on the military.

And there are people on here still claiming this is not a coup. Justice for all, depending on the colour of the shirt I guess

Having a field day with this one. Clearly Mr T s mate. Mr T used to always clearly state why he did something by saying that was NOT the reason.

5555556 Just can t stop lauging. This time, serious, laughing out loud! So much red rhetoric and lies by one man. Have you ever considered a career as a comedian?

The weapons caches are ALL from red militia. They were preparing a civil war. Happy SOMEONE had the brains to say enough is enough. The killing fields of the reds will long be remembered. No more kids to kill. No more innocent bystanders to be shot. No more peaceful protesters to launch rockets or hurl grenades at. Chai Yo for the army. The cowardly red militia can only hit on unarmed people. No matter if u agree with any side, using people for target practice is not the solution.

You appear to be terribly misled or deliberately blind to the truth. Suthep, the evil monk and their gangs are the criminals.

"Most of the charges are "politically motivated" anyway" - taking your reasoning to its logical conclusion would put Yingluck and her cabinet back into office and rolling out a red carpet for Thaksin's victorious return.

The last yearly reshuffle in the RTP in March (I think) was approved by Thaksin.
