Schools Closed Today?

just got word that the schools both govt and private are closed today here around Nong Khai , i was not aware the army closed the schools , any other input on this ? i actually thought they wanted the opposite to ensure calm in the community .....

I live in the sticks also and have since 1997. Schools are closed today, after all the military has taken over the government again as they did in 2006, but all will be back to normal on Monday if it's like the last time.
