I'd be grateful if anyone has experience or reliable information as to:

1) Whether it is possible to place an order with the official dealer to import these - i.e. not as a grey market purchase?

2) What the approximate all-in price would be?

3) Would the dealer honour the warranties and competently service the vehicles?

Skoda Yeti is available in Thailand with the 1.2l engine, no 4WD.

I have asked them now since 2 years if and when the 4wd option, preferably with the Diesel engine is coming and just last month got an answer that most probably end of this year....but not sure which engine.

the others i don't think you will have any chance to import them thru the main dealers. They just won't do it.

Kia has the Sorrento though and Hyundai the Tucson....if this 'floats' your boat.

Thank you for that info re Skoda Yeti. You don't mention prices - or is that available online? I'll check - hope Skoda's website is not in thai.

I have nothing against the Sorento except that it's too big for my needs which are for the smallest and best suv available - tis side of the german suv prices.

checkraka.com has SUV & car prices in Thai but chrome translates OK.

siamnewcar.com has English but some new models are missing.

The Yeti is shown at ~1.6M baht.

Ssangyong Korando 1.7M or Subaru XV 1.35M? Similarly questionable dealer and resale like Audi Skoda and Kia.

If you don't mind Volvo, the V40 is a good alternative to the unavailable A3.

The suv would be a second car, to complement a city car - the latter would be a bmw 116 or a vw golf. I want a small/compact. Sportage, Qashqai and Yeti fit the bill. But apparently only Yeti is available. Of the local suv s there is the Juke and the Escape. I think I may have to choose between the Juke, the Yeti, the subaru xv and a second hand bmw/mercedes suv.

How about a Mazda Cx5 with the 2.5 engine. No 4wd, but you don't seem to look for that. Price 1.44m, so in line with the others but surely quicker than the other options and better resale later on. It does not look "that" big if you ask me.

Is it my imagination or is the face of the new cx 5 on the mazda thai website not the same as the new cx 5 released in the European market?
