No matter what you are reading here or elsewhere the boarder at the NK Friendship Bridge is OPEN to FARANG in both directions and Thais returning. Any disruption to the huge numbers of trucks carrying goods into Laos from Thailand would cause problems for the Laotians in a very short time. Getting to Thailand illegally is not tolerated obviously and they are not welcome here if they come by boat. Unanimosity, what country are you from? Chalerm was forced to make a grovelling apology to the army chief and supreme commander for making similar comments about them before the 1991 coup. Jatuporn will lucky if he gets away with just an apology. There are enough charges pending against him that the judiciary may do the job for them.
