Hotel or apartment?

Featured Replies

Will be staying in Patong for 5 nights next month. Have stayed before but mostly in hotels. This time I've been looking at apartments too. They cost a little more but I like the fact that you are left alone and you can cook too. This particular apartment also charge you for electricity but I guess that won't be too much. Have people here used apartments and what are the pros and cons?

For 5 nights its hardly worth buying cooking items, and it's cheap to eat out in many places. If you want privacy, tell the maid to go away. That said, my first few trips to Thailand, I rented a condo. It was nice to have a kitchen and privacy, but I was here for a few weeks, and it made sense to stock the fridge.

Did you find that condos are priced higher than hotel rooms?

At the time, I was paying about 5000 B/night. A hotel at that price was a bit nicer, but the condo had a better location. So, same, same but different as far as cost.
