Why would you need to advise a forestry official that you are carting away a old house, to be erected somewhere else ???

I see 2 scenario's:

1. The logs are legit

or

2. They thought it better to let this slip by for fear of bringing down the whole house of cards regarding illegal logs (as we know who mainly controls that trade)

He said he borrowed the compound through his connection with a housemaid of Yaowapa.

Again it shows that maids, gardeners and drivers of the Shinawatra family are very influential people, who hold billions in Baht of the families savings and make decisions over property rights.

But even if true, hee hee, who obtained the wood in the first place? Anyone who would cut teak or kill an elephant or rhino should have both hands and both feet removed.

I like "insufficient evidence." The teak is just more Thaksin political machine grabbing money for the family and cronies.

hmm, maid, maid, connection with a housemaid. It's early and I'm on my first cup but I seem to remember something about another connection with a housemaid working for a family with the same name back in 2001 involving millions of dollars. Or maybe I'm just dreaming again.

You made me spill my tea! :(

Prbkk post # 11

They will never admit error. They will continue to moan, whinge, bitch till the cows come home, The are graduates of the Goebells Institute of PR

Yet again Prbkk you describe the Shinwatra clan and their ilk and the supporters of their corrupt lying practices succinctly.

Indeed it seems as if you have seen the light at last.

Of course there's no question the documents were genuine, after all there's no such thing as fake, false or forged paperwork in LoS.

You just can't stop your pathetic bashing, can you?

So why can't all you who came out gun's blazing and crying the shins this the shins that admit you judged and you were WRONG!!!

GEEZZZ not the first time huh?

the OP stated that all the documents were produced and still you cry foul, you make me laugh AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHa

No official apology either. As I recall, the officials were shown a receipt for the purchase of the timber, but chose not to check it out before caritng the logs off. Egg on their face and a big loss of face for them. Maybe next time they will investigate properly.

We are talking about a family with a known history of criminality and hiding behind domestic servants. It is not surprising that readers don't give them the benefit of the doubt.

There is no longer any doubt, the man who stored the timber has been cleared, and he wasn't one of the Shinawatras.

Then this must be probably all correct.
But in Thailand one genuine document is often used for a variety of illegal operations.

There was actually this old teak house. Disassembled and equipped with offical documents.

The possible misuse of this authentic document for other illegal timber transports can not be excluded.

For example, how can a normal traffic cop know if the declared wood corresponds with the actual loaded timber?

The tracking systems here are not so sophisticated.

A residual doubt exists.

It's in the Sermon on the Mount.

And the Lord Thaksin saw that his followers were homeless and in need of shelter.

So the Lord went to Tak and blessed an old teak house and told it to go forth and multiply.

The heavens darkened and government officials were struck with awe at the Lord's bountiful generosity.

The house was reborn as 5,000 new teak houses to provide shelter for the Lord Thaksin's shivering followers.

Priceless, I'm laughing as I write this. Keep em coming. I'd go nuts without you guys.

Is it even possible that one old house had such a high dollar amount of teak in it? wasn't the value of the wood in question in the millions?

Valued at 10 million baht worth of teak.

Also suspect of the claim that it all came from just a single old farmhouse ermm.gif , is the quantity of teak.

As well as the suspect claim that the huge area of the Wongsawat family compound was given up to store the huge piles simply as a favor to a friend of their maid?

I'm a bit dubious as to the value of teak shown as being 10 million baht. You can get this house, including 5 rai of land for 28 million baht (the estate agents reckon the price of the wood alone is worth that - but compare the amount of wood used in it's construction to that shown in your link

WORLD-S-LARGEST-GOLDEN-TEAK-HOME-FOR-SAL

You'll note that there are at least 50 columns (tree trunks) used in that construction. OK that's an extreme example but here's a Lanna style farmhouse.Count the number of supporting posts - about 50 odd. Why are you sceptical that that amount of wood couldn't be sourced from a house like this?

"Officials from Tak have already showed up to reassure authorities that the teak came from an old house in the western province. "The house was disassembled and transported out of Tak. I can testify to that," said Boonrak Fak-orn, an official whose mark is imprinted on the logs and boards."

Now for a journalist to go to the Western Province and make a photo of the plot where the 'old house' used to sit. Plus a few interview with nearby residents who can recount the history of the house, it's wealthy family and what a shame it is to have such a landmark removed.

Your comment become more and more idiotic by the day.

You are one of those who still defend the ill actions of your hero and his clan of crooks, no matter the evidences given that they were breaking the law, abusing the system, filling their pockets, and cheating, and you come here to give PR lessons......Poor you!

From the photos , there indeed appears to be a small pile of wood that came

from an old house. However the longer pieces of wood next to that pile are

freshly milled. And I await with bated breath the explanation for the big

pile of logs. Normally this story would be quietly swept away after the

proper tea money had been paid. With the military in charge and the people

involved, will be curious to see how far this goes . And no, a local official

with a brand new Vigo truck stepping forward saying everything is fine

regarding paperwork will not cut it... :-)

Haha , Uncle Rubl I know you are only kidding, as investigative journalism does not exist there.

Because that would expose the truth, which no one wants here. And besides, if a journalist

actually went out and exposed this as a pack of lies, he would be prosecuted for libel

by the parties involved. The libel laws are a clever way to insure no one is really investigated

for anything......

Along with reports on how big it was and whether the volume of teak corresponds with what was found on the Shin Clan property.

Oh well, you tried to do your homework really good, didn't you, was it maybe that you had to, because 'the ones above you' got really scared about the 'teak connection' being uncovered? But you still 'forgot' to write one word about all the fresh logs which were found... Selective memory? Or the usual des-information? Too 'embarassing'?

And what great friendly people those 'Tak officials' are, can you imagine, they came over all the way from Tak, just 'to reassure authorities', about some Teakwood... OK, there is no clear evidence about what I'll write, but isn't it all so, very, suspicious, doesn't it smell very fishy, as if someone had put his combat boot on a big ants'nest, and frantic efforts are made by the said ants to ...'cover up' the nest again before any intruder digs deeper to the 'treasure chambers'...? Don't forget, this is happening in Chiang Mai, the ex-future capital of the Shins' lanna empire, they 'own' about everyone there! Wouldn't a team of specialists from the Forestry Department IN BANGKOK, and of the (new) DSI be available to check all sides of the story, ASAP? Or is 'clarity' not to be expected, or even avoided at all cost? TiT?
