I want to connect my notebook to my TV so I can watch streaming or downloaded content. Problem is even though I have HDMI connector on my mac, the TV doesnt have , It only has the older Audio visual red/ yellow circular connections. Any suggestions how I might get round this? I have seen these digital boxes in tesco lotus with an HDMI connection, and the audio/visual cables to connect for a 1000 baht. (www.createch.co.th) I was thinking could I run the computer content through the Tv/digital box to the TV ? Any help or alternatives would be appreciated.

If you simply want to connect your laptop to the TV, the gadget linked to above will do the trick. If you want more content, more than you could possibly ever get around to watching, you should look into a box like Roku. I run a Roku 3 with a VPN service that allows me to stream from my computer. It also gives me access to my Netflix account without touching my computer. I could add a number of other 'channels' if I wanted. Some, like Netflix and Hulu Plus, are paid subscriptions. There are a lot of free options out there as well, Crackle being a good example. It's certainly worth looking into. It beats True Visions any day of the week and twice on Sunday! I don't tie up my computer which leaves me free to use it as I please for work or pleasure while watching all of the On-Demand programming I could hope for from the states.

Going this route, you would probably want to upgrade your TV to one that is HD. It all depends on how much TV you watch and how much you enjoy watching it. I didn't really watch too much TV until I brought this little box back from the states. Now, I am about to cancel True Visions altogether. It's just something to consider!

The gadget shown in the above eBay link is what you need. I have a similar gadget but different color. I have seen these being sold at IT malls in Bangkok. If you are buying locally, make sure the gadget includes a power adapter because it needs a power source to convert the signal from digital to composite.

A converter from three wire, white red yellow, to HDMI tv input may be best. Ask sales person and read the box.

I guess ur laptop lacks three wire output?

Yellow is video, red and white are left and right stereo audio.

Roku costs money after u buy the Roku. I got it thinking their ads were true. Not. Anything a brain-alive person will want to watch cost subscription or pay per view extra costs. It does work and may have only HDMI output... check that.

Simple buy a Dvi cable to hdmi and connect it

Works on every computer and notebook

I guess you didn't read the OP. The TV doesn't have a HDMI port.

Problem is even though I have HDMI connector on my mac, the TV doesnt have , It only has the older Audio visual red/ yellow circular connections.

Why don't you just buy a reliable DVD player with USB, copy your movies on your memory drive and watch them, without having to connect your notebook all the time. Just my 5 baht.
