I have always found that those that have to tell everyone how successful they are simply are full of shit and do it to satisfy their inner need to be a lot more than they are. When someone is happy with their lives they do not need to tell the world about it because it concerns them and their family, not everyone on TV. More than likely you are a failed dropkick and have to bullsh*t to everyone to fulfill your failures in life, I think the only thing you had 2 of at once was your hands, mrs palmer and her 5 daughters must be your best friends. You really need to work out your "years" too, as they simply dont "add" up unless you were made a captain at a very early age, as for your dj bit, using a barbie doll sing along doesnt really quailfy you as a dj, sorry, oh the shame of it all.........

I repeat-

For the record Ive had an unusual, unorthodox , exciting, blessed, contented, happy life. ( which is why I home school my daughter)

Some thing I now understand the trolls can not comprehend happens in real life.

well then maybe you should read some of your "other stories", you claim to have worked 30 years to pay of your house yet tell us you retired at 35(wow, started work at 5, coal mine?), you daughter gets up at 5 am to go to school on the ferry but you home school her and thats only 2 of them. Mate, we know you like to bullsh*t but you have to remember to keep telling the same story, I just had a quick look through some of your topics, very interesting to say the least as they all point to different lifestyles, seems porkies are very big with you. I know about real life as I have lived it and do not have a need to bullsh*t to others about imaginary happenings like you do. When you grow up maybe you can come back and talk real life with us instead of your fantasies, just make sure people cannot go in and read exactly what you have been writing in here for the past few years as that contradicts everything in your post, sorry old chum.

When I left UK I had 2 property's with mortgages which gave me a small income.Plus one with out a mortgage.

I'd sold a house in Docklands which paid of the mortgage and with the profit bought a 2 bedroom flat in N1 for cash.

Plus pension.

Mortgages were paid of when I was 50.

Read the post, my daughter went to school once to learn a lesson.

What it is like getting up with all the kids at 5am, getting ready to join the rat race.

She has had no problem getting up at 8am since.

I repeat-

what would home schooling your kid have to do with it?

We are taught in the system, to get an education, get a career, work until you are 65 or drop down dead etc

A part of my daughters education is Yoga, Meditation, and Taekwondo.

I advise her, choose a career that makes you happy, not about financial reward.

Then it never seems like your going to work.

I have very rich friends still working and not that happy.

Yet my poorest friend who when he is here, lives on 500 baht a day is the happiest.

When people ask my daughter what she wants to be when she grows up she replys 'happy'.

A continuation of her childhood, where she goes to bed happy 89 out of 90 nights.

A mere spelling mistake criticism I'm happy to humbly except.

You want us to give you a little medal or something?

I usually let spelling and grammar mistakes slide as I make them myself but it was a little funny following the home schooling routine.

There's a difference between enjoying your life here in Thailand -- which I hope you do -- and feeling the need to let everybody know the fact. I have a USA based non-profit ('Registered Charity' for the Commonwealth crowd) and spend lots of time on line doing legal research, commenting on court cases and UN Treaty negotiations. So just a nod that, just because they don't care to dwell at length, doesn't mean that others don't have interesting lives as well.

"Accept"? I hope you're not teaching her English.

You can repeat things over and over 'for the record" but its not going to make them true

As you can plainly see I'm not qualified for that.

I arrange her tutors.

Do you need a work permit to home-school your kid?

I understand working on line for a company in UK you would.

But in practice who would?

You also need in theory a work permit to do voluntary work in Thailand.

But when my daughter,a couple of friends and I raised 200K for the flood victims, no one asked to see our work permit when we handed the money over.

Or at any other charity project I've been involved in.

Ive committed my self to raising 100k for a reputable charity this year if any one on Thai visa would like to contribute.

Presumably teaching a kid is work, and you're taking away a job a teacher might otherwise be doing.

If you were, as if you were working on line.

As you can plainly see I'm not qualified for that.

I arrange her tutors.

So you don't home school your daughter?

Wow your pedantic.

I have my daughter home schooled.

Not on your "thoughts" I hope.....................w00t.gif

The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who have not got it.

Maybe the question should be why are there so many inane posts on here. But it is fun when for the second time a guy finds a wife and buys her a bar.

My thoughts are she doesn't join the rat race.

She chooses an occupation based on a love of it.
Not the financial reward.
I think most Fathers have a responsibility to separate their 'private' life from their children's.
Probably applies to the wife in Thailand too.

OP you ask "Why are there so many unpleasant remarks posted on TV?"....AND then you proceed to post an unpleasant remark about "old" people. So who's calling the kettle Black. ...Going to take a wild guess here ....Your young, uneducated, achieved nothing in your life, have no prospects.....generally you're a young loser with nothing better to do than disrespect your elders!

Get a life!w00t.gif

I enjoy the sensible, witty , funny sarcastic replys.

Amongst the serious ones.

But I have to correct one that is an unreasonable assumption.

I will be 54 this year.

Thank you for the compliment.

I do feel only 35.

I'd read my post on trying to get my cars insured here.

The only 'work' I do is in my bedroom and charity.

Smart enough to retired at 35 to Phuket.

Best decision I ever made in my life!

Oh Gawd, not another fantasist dreamer. I suppose you get all your women for free and they're queueing up in your garden at this moment once they get past your fleet of Bentleys and have a business empire in the middle east?

How did you get on with the Ladyboys? Sore botty this morning?

I think I'm beginning to understand more this type of reply.

The reality of someone else's achievements and happiness, is inconceivable to someone discontent and unsatisfied with their life.
My glass is always half full!
Before coming to Thailand I had the good fortune and 'luck' to be an officer in the London Fire Brigade.
An occupation I dreamed of joining at the age of 9.
Once in, I couldn't believe they actually paid me for having so much fun.
That's why I advise my daughter, choose an occupation you love, not based on the financial reward.
Then it will never feel like work!
The shift system allowed me to be a DJ ( easy access to women) ( I lived with 2 at the same time in UK!) and build up my own business employing 35 people before I retired @ 35 to Thailand. The second best decision of my life!
My daughter is home schooled here.
The tutors instructions are to educate my daughter in such a way that she is happy.
Not necessarily to go to University.
Hanging in my daughters classroom.
Are these words-
Do what you can.
With what you have.
Where you are.
I certainly have, and that has made all the difference to my life.
And a strong belief that the grass is not greener, on the other side.
Not for me anyway!
Luck is where preparation meets opportunity!

Speaking as a connoisseur of the fine art of bullshi**ng, i have to say what a pleasure it is to see a master craftsman at work. Please carry on.

Im not sure why there are so many unpleasant people on this site but I think its party to do with there being a lot more posters then before. A lot of them seem to be teenage boys that have never been to Thailand trolling to get a response. If they are within the rules they dont get moderated. I suspect tho that it just reflects the mental maturity of the expats that Thailand seems to attract these days. In any case the solution is not difficult. Its called the ignore pref option which is under the arrow by your user name. I have used this and it makes the site much easier and pleasant to use. Theres just a couple of problems with it. The first is that once you block more then around 300 people its stops working all together and you are back to seeing the same old stuff again unless you make a new account, which is apparently breaking the sites rules. And secondly it is a slow process. You have to go to the page, scroll down, type in the username you want to block and click enter. It would be much better if they just put an ignore user button under the users name in the post. I personally think that in the long run the site will have to do it in anycase because as membership goes up theres just to much being posted to read if there is no way to filter it.

where did I say anyone had to? but I sure enjoyed it while it lasted. look at how twitter works, or facebook, in effect everyone is blocked unless you choose to unblock them, seems to work pretty well judging by their profits and popularity, maybe you should discuss your views with the millions on those sites, except Im guessing you have to resort to open forums to get an audience, which is one of the points I was making.

open forums attract trolls because its the only place they can go these days to get an audience
