I guess she isn't rich enough to get out of this particular pickle.

it has nothing to do with wealth.

They are using her to make a statement, if they weren't, 20-50k and she could have walked.

Drug trafficking as we all know carries a heavy penalty in most if not all Asian countries. regardless of the amount, the crime is the same. Armed robbery of THB 1,000 or THB 1,000,000,000 is still armed robbery.

No, because 250 mg is a tiny amount which is clearly for personal use. 250 kg would be a huge amount which would clearly be for dealing.

In this case the amount means a lot.

That sentence is absolutely ridiculous!

Based on what premise ?
The amount of drugs stands in no relation to the seriousness of the sentence.

A few years ago that rich guy's then 17 years old daughter got 3 years of probation, a fine and is allowed to get her driver's license only at the age of 25 for killing several people in a car crash she caused because she was speeding on the tollway with her father's car and rear-ended a mini van! At least one of the passengers flew out of the van and fell the 20 or so meters from the tollway all the way down to the ground.

The Red Bull heir hasn't been prosecuted at all yet, for killing that cop with his Lamborghini or Ferrari or whatever it was.

Yet this woman gets 15 years for possession of a quarter of a gram of blow!

Indeed Soutpeel, the amount of 251mg is apparently what she was convicted of possessing. according to a BP article earlier this year, the 251mg amount is listed on her prison issue tag which all inmates are forced to wear as it details what they're locked up for.

You mention in previous posts that it was 250grams. Not possible, nobody unless they're a mule would carry that amount of gear through an airport. And even a mule wouldn't because the amount is too small to be worthwhile for a trafficking organization and way too high to be a personal stash. 250g is a seriously big lump of powder & even a real fiend wouldn't buy in quantities like that, let alone carry it around in their luggage as they fly between south east asian airports.

The same BP article insinuates that she was set up by some influential person because her charity work somehow scuppered a deal in which the same influential person would receive some highly prized big cat.

For having any gear at all she is foolish, but certainly not foolish enough to warrant over a decade in squalid prison conditions either. However it is dressed up her family has been torn apart by a disgustingly disproportionate sentence. The real losers in this are her kids, they don't deserve to be deprived of a parent for 15 years for the sake of a very small amount of drugs (which if consumed would render almost no lasting ill effects whatsoever).

This is frightening.

An utterly revolting sentence - to take away the rest of someone's life for simple possession of a line of coke. What sort of cretinous barbarian would ever think of doing such a thing to someone?

As for the 'It's the law!'brigade - think, why don't you? They used to burn heretics at the stake. It was the law. And no doubt 400 years ago there was a quotient of nodding donkeys going,'He's only himself to blame for going up in flames....he shouldn't have translated that Bible...he knew the risks..."

Drugs r exactly as they r & an encouragement to cooking/smuggling. Her sentence was Just to the country & really quite light to illegal drug handlers as no outsiders can justify their beliefs/matters over an outside country. Personally, I would've had the person hanged.

oh well, I suppose its better then the usual rusty blade fantasy

The sentence is inane, when you consider the fact that guys are walking with two year suspended sentences for manslaughter. But, smuggling cocaine into thailand? What on earth was she thinking? Is anything worth that risk? Where was she coming from? Colombia? Why take that chance? What one earth was going through her head. I guess she is going to have a long time to ponder that one. And at age 40 she is holding up very well. She might have a hard time in prison with that face.

Wasn't she working in animal welfare ? Or am I getting mixed up with another lady

Yes she was, trying to stop the endangered species trade and they crossed the wrong police , thus the ridiculous sentence

We are talking about some left over grains in her pocket, not enough for a line, hardly drug smuggling

I stand corrected. Thought it said 251 grams. Wow. This is sheer stupidity.

A rather sad and depressing story, given that she was involved in the modelling game etc and has a couple of children. Miscarriage of justice IMHO. A year would have been fair. She was no Red bull heir.

Bangkok Post says 251 grammes of cocaine.

If that's the case, it's a different story. Street value of around a million baht (in the UK) if it's pure, 600k if cut. Not really at personal use level unless you're Scarface.

Yeah, but seems more likely it's 251mg as the article says a "small amount". Not sure many people would class 251g as a small amount. 251g would surely amount to trafficking - though I guess typically mules would carry a kilo at least - whereas 251mg is like you say, enough for about half an hour's 'entertainment' for a couple of people. Pretty sickening and absurd this sort of sentence.

Your thinking a zero to short.

I think they caught her with it in a tube like smarties, 251mg would be tiny dust in the tube, it must have been 251g or let's say a quarter of a kilo, which still isn't a lot by any standards if she's an addict

Daniella westbrook would have snorted that in a few days, she deserves a fine and probation or something similar

very, very sorry for her to be another victim of the 'Righteous Junta'

feel good now do you TVF Junta Lovers?

it's sickening the way the country is going downhill fast

Posted

Ouch.

So when they catch a bloke with 1mn yaba pills do they give him 300 years in jail. Drugs sick but so do unproportionate jail terms.

and for self consumption....she isn't hurting anyone....at that amount not even herself

Hypocrite!!! this is your beloved Junta!!! THIS is what happens when Military take over you ****

Sounds like she and hubby made a lot of enemies helping animals.

In Thailand it sometimes seems like if you do good deeds you get punished and v versa do something terrible and zero happens

I feel the hate mongers who celebrate people's misfortune in such a vile way have no place on this forum. They are damaged people and should not use TV to promote their misanthropic poison.

Looks like she stepped on the toe of some influential people who could not accept that she rescued some endangered species they wanted for their private amusement. To condemn someone for drug trafficking of 0.15 mg of substance is totally ridiculous. Poor lady and I am sorry for her family. Our kids went to the same school.

Posted

I'm just totally sorry for the kid, her life totally destroyed? it's just not right that 0.15mg get's her such a disgraceful sentence

have some COMPASSION

I really hope something good comes her way

What is it with these Asian countries and drugs? I can't really think of a great artist, writer, or musician who hasn't done coke at one time or another. As for the fashion industry, drugs are rife.
