I accidently dropped 300 baht in heavy foot traffic near bayoike towers 2 in bkk only to have a middle aged thai women who saw me drop it chase me down and returned it to me.

Another time i left my ipod in a crowded internet cafe on nanai rd in phuket and it was still there 4 hours later untouched.

anything like this happened to anybody else?

I am always seeing examples of honesty with the Thais.

BTW See how you were mercilessly attacked in the first two posts!

I've lost a few marbles, don't think they've been returned to me yet.

"mercilessly attacked". A little over-exaggeration. The first comment was hilarious.

As nice as this is, I've also seen many examples of honesty with Thais, but they tend to be drowned out by the dodgy deeds. Btw, I like your definition of 'attacked', it's amusing.

Yes, on reflection, mercilessly attacked was a tad strong. Perhaps I am commenting on the coming posts!!!!

I picked up a purse in my soi a few days ago. It could only have belonged to a woman who just drove into the soi as I had just walked up the soi past that point a minute previously and it hadn't been there then.

I took it to her house and as soon as she saw it, she was all "OOOOO, yayayablahblah blah OOOOOOO" and called her daughter out who also recognised it immediately and was blabbering aloud. She took it, wai'ed deeply, as did the daughter, opened it, the 6000 baht was still in it. She waied again. Yesterday she brought be a big bag of grapes, and thanked my wife profusely too.

For some reason, I got the impression that they thought I was a good man in that another person may not have returned it. The whole soi (the social ones) is hailing me a hero and thanking me on the woman's behalf. The money must have been for something important.

Last week I found an I-phone on a glass feezer lid. A Muslim woman and I both browsing the freezer had just swapped places and so I thought she had left it there.....I spoke to her and asked if it was hers...it wasn't, but she picked it up and said she will take.it straight to the staff. I thought to myself, "She's just scored an I-phone!" but a few minutes later some staff came to me with the phone and asked me where I had found it. Obviously the woman had handed it in.

Coming posts, you can be assured the loser OP won't be among them..

if you could read english you would see nothing got lost .

you may have drunken yourself into mental retardation where you believe you are living in LOS but are actually living in you mothers basement somewhere in the uk.

This would also explain your minimal knowledge of thai culture / values/ respect.

I left my iphone in a KFC on Monivong Blvd in Phnom Penh a few months back. Realized it back at the hotel room, went rushing back with little hope (it had been at least 20 minutes). As I entered a waitress spotted me and came over, handed me the phone and - this is the topper - repeatedly refused to accept the reward I offered her. Do you realize how many days wages that phone represented to a Khmer waitress? Needless to say, adjusted my perspective a might.

Seems like Geronimo nailed it.

The Cambodian Khmer are like Thais 30 years ago. :)

I've actually saved a lot of money here by NOT letting middle aged women chase me down.

It amazes me that so many people seem to lose important things like wallets, purses, and phones. I stopped at a roadside market up near Lampang and I found a wallet on the ground with around 3,000 baht. After 10 minutes we tracked the old guy down by telephone numbers in his wallet and we sat around for 15 minutes for him to return. He was most grateful of course and offered a small reward which we declined. He looked like a normal poor farmer and was well over 70yrs old I'd guess.

Clearly you lost your sense of humour at some point, and no one returned it to you.

Lol, that's funny. You obviously don't know HD.

Good story, but why do you need to specify she was Muslim? What's the connection between a lost cellphone and being muslim?

Very disappointed with this OP I was expecting him to say he dropped THB 300 and 2 farang English teachers grabbed the cash before it hit the ground:D

No connection except she happened to be Muslim. If she happened to have been tall, I might have said "tall woman" and if she had happened to have been a pretty ladyboy I might have said "a pretty ladyboy". It's just descriptive. Or would you rather I had simply said "person"?

Why do you ask?
