Good morning People, the multi entry non 0. If I leave Thailand, how long can I stay out the country before I must return to use the next entry?

Excellent, so the non 0 visa is 1 year, no limit how long I can stay out, then I can renew it each year. Finally, some good news. Thanks for the replies.

If I enter a day before the visa expires, I get another 90 days, then I can apply for a new non 0 visa during this time?

Yes youcan< If it is still easily available then.

t thought you were going to get an extension of stay at immigration then or after you have done a few entries.

I think you are getting a bit confused now actually!!! Why should you enter 1 day before, just to get another 90 days... I dont think you get another 90 days, because you do not have any valid VISA during that period of 90 days you wish for.....

And further on you must apply for a new one OUTSIDE Thailand.... So you seems to be mixed up in a lot of thinking here. making it complicated for you...

Mind you - You already got an answer to your question you put in your original post.. Read Lite Beers answer and you will be fine..

I'm still thinking of going to work in China for 6 months Joe. So the mutli 0 is the only choice, besides that, I don't have to do all the stuff required for the extension based on marriage. If I use the multi entry non 0, until I'm ready to stay put in Thailand, then do the extension. Nothing is certain yet, except for doing everything I can not to have to go back to the UK.

A visas validity date is only the last day the visa can used to obtain another entry it does not limit the amount of time you can be in the country.

People do it all the the time with multiple entry non immigrant wisas or with tourist visas to use the last entry they allow.

Therefore I CAN apply for a new non 0 even if the visa has expired and I'm the the last 90 days of entry?

thank you Ubonjoe - lesson learned!! So you mean that even that the VISA itself expires during these coming 90 days, just do a entry.... get the 90 days and

we can have a valid stay in Thailand with an expired VISA. I just didn´t know, great, thank you again..

You do understand that to get a new non Imm- O visa you would have to leave the country and apply at a consulate or embassy, - you cannot apply for a new visa inside Thailand.

You can however get an extension of your current permission to stay at an immigration office within the country (providing you are eligible for an extension, of course).

Can I get either of these coming off an ED visa? And could I then re-apply for the non 0? Shouldn't be any problems with the non 0, but just trying to think in advance if there is....

Any problem with the crackdown ? Are people actually allowed to live in Thailand permanently with NON-O visa ? They can leave every 3 months and come back immediately ?

Thanks.

No change for doing that as part of the "crackdown".

If ever the holder of a multiple-entry non-O visa gets questioned on arrival in Thailand whether he is working illegally in Thailand it will not be because of the recently announced crackdown on tourists with back-to-back visa -exempt entries.

Regarding the phrasing of your question, just note that the multiple-entry non-O visa is, strictly speaking, not intended for a foreigner "to live in Thailand permanently", but for a foreigner living outside Thailand to travel to Thailand for the purpose of visiting family members, among several purposes listed for this visa category. However, there has been no indication that immigration plans to enforce this more strictly. There have been reports by members, though, that some consulates in the region do not issue the multiple-entry non-O visa.

Difficult to enforce I guess because anyone having a NON-O could easily change it in an extension of stay based for example on marriage ?

What are the different kinds of extensions that we can get with a non-o ?

Thank you.

Yes they are allowed to live here if they leave the country every 3 months. I do it. And I have non-O multiple based on retirement/pension. It gives me about 15 months in Thailand. And it's very easy to get a new visa in my home country after that

I may have to go that way as this year they have started to ask for financial on the marriage. Where do you get your visa, at a consulate or the embassy. Consulate websites are a bit vague on the multi pension.

If you are married to a Thai you can get a multiple entry non-o in Savannakhet Laos with no financial proof needed.

I'm from Sweden. So I get my non-O multiple at the Embassy in Stockholm when I go home. The financial requirements for that visa are very low in Stockhom. And money in a Swedish bank is ok also.

It's as easy as getting a normal Tourist visa. And I don't have to show any copies of tickets in & out of the Thailand. So it's less papers than a normal Tourist visa. But you have to be 50+

That is an option I have under consideration but no good till I get my passport.

I have a timing issue that has been created by the passport problem. My brother works in Shetland on 3 weeks on 1 week off basis so windows of convenience are not easy. I could be faced with overstay or go back on ETD.

If I get it in time my best option is to apply for extension of stay and go for the August window in the UK. My current stamp is 24th July, 8 weeks on passport would be 18th July and flight to UK would need to be about 21st Aug.

OK. From what others have said on here, I was under the impression that the "pension" Non o was only available in the UK so I assumed you were from the UK.

Question on the Non Imm 'O' Multi-Entry as my status is somewhat similar to that of the OP.

Thanks to people like Ubonjoe I have a pretty good understanding of my Visa... but there is always a new wrinkle. Although this Multi 'O' Visa is not intended for people to stay in Thailand - in net effect most people (IMO) use it that way. Every 90 days I must exit and re-enter (a turn around border run - or a day or two or longer visit to a neighboring country). I have got this down pretty good. I am staying in Thailand 80-90 days at a time - exiting and re-entering ... not a bad way to 'stay' in Thailand as it is fairly uncomplicated ... little initial paperwork, not too much cost to get it, etc. My current Multi 'O' ends on Dec 14, 2014 and I plan on a border run about Dec 10th. to obtain another 3 months to make a total of nearly 15 months under this visa (and do the regular 90 day border runs up until then) .

My question is (I have seen it partially answered here)... What nearby entry points do I need to go to in order to get a whole new multi 'O' for another 'year' to come and go in/out of Thailand? I take it there is no waiting period after my final three month period is up and the Visa totally expires - correct? And that possibly I can get a new multi 'O' before the current one totally expires.

Traveling to Vientiane Laos, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Vietnam or even the Philippines would be acceptable. Does anyone know of Thai Consulates or Embassies in these countries that are 'friendly' - open minded to issuing the Non Imm Multi-Entry 'O' Visa to a fellow who just had one for an entire year?

I know I can convert / extend to a 'O-A' based on Retirement - but I am not ready for that..

I hope my question and the answers will contribute to OP's understanding of the subject.

You can get a 60 day extension of stay to visit your wife at immigration. There is no problem doing it with your existing passport. That should help give you enough time to get your new passport.

You wife will need to go with you to immigration when you apply. You will need your marriage certificate, her house book and ID card plus copies.
