Old Pat is getting married. I've looked on the British BKK embassy web site and cannot find the doc, does anyone have a link or can I just fill in the form when I go to the embassy? On that matter, I don't live in BKK (obviously) so I want to get this right, does anyone know how long it takes to get the doc from the embassy? I understand I then need to get said doc translated into Thai and them get the translated doc (only) stamped at the MOFA? Realistically, could I get this done in the same day if I were get to the embassy early doors?

And finally, do Thai's need to get any equivalent type of doc to allow them to marry?

Thanks for any help.

If your future bride has been married before make sure she is officially divorced, she'll have a certificate for that, and provided its all legit she'll be noted as single on the Amphur's database.

Got mine done in a day but being lazy used an agent for the MFA legwork. The Embassy bit was all over in an hour or so.

Sorry, but that doc doesn't allow me to delete and type my info on, and is it meant to have the 'speciman' watermark on it?

Can't copy and paste that I'm afraid, it doesn't come out the same, and the form from the gov.uk link doesn't allow me to type in the info, it just shows one of them 'hand' signs.

Is anything just straightforward these days?

If you go to the MOFA yourself you may not get it all done the same day,

my understanding is that you pay 400bt and pick up the following day.

Or 800bt for same day service, but you need to get there early, the translation office

workers may be able to help for a fee to get it all done the same day.

Here's a link that may help you on all the requirements:

Hi all, Question, Affirmation of marital status form, Usual Address. as i've lived here in Thailand for 4 years, at the same address for 3 years, i:e girl-friends house, i take it this would be the address to put on the form, or would it be my flat address, in the uk which has been rented out for the passed 8 years. I know it says Usual Address, just wanted to be sure.

What should I put on the Affirmation of Marital form if I am not currently working?

I was just going to put not working until I read somewhere else that said not to write unemployed. You must put an occupation and a salary.
