ricktak Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Has anyone recently shipped a 40 foot container from the US to Thailand (even a 20 foot one) ? I am interested in the process, cost, company used, documents required (this will be for a Thai citizen returning home), customs and anything else connected to the shipping. I would appreciate any constructive info on this topic. thanks.
beachproperty Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I realize you are looking for people who have already done this and their experience, but have you tried googling "40 ft shipping container from Chicago to Bangkok".....Many shippers and prices. good luck!
Seastallion Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 WUS posted he was doing this...from Chicago too if I remember correctly. Hmmmmm. 2
steelepulse Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Yes, there is a thread on here about space available from Chicago to BKK. What a coincidence as I haven't seen a thread on this subject...............ever, and now two in one day!
snottgoblin Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 WUS posted he was doing this...from Chicago too if I remember correctly. Hmmmmm. The legend that is whereustay did indeed post this. rijb Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 We did a 40' container about 7 years ago, from Texas. Use the same company (or their proxy) to ship the container to its final destination (not Bangkok!) Don't try to switch vendors in BKK. They'll try to screw you! And customs will try screw you! Be prepared for the <deleted>to try to hold your stuff hostage. Use only the name (from the Thai passport) in all the paperwork (including in the U.S.). PS: I don't think it was worth the hassle or the expense. I wouldn't do it again. 1

But there is always someone who wants to be first to shout TROLL. Thanks for all the replies.

And, once it arrived here, then how much? Customs and delivery and all . Port charges run about 15,000 with 4,000 of that land delivery. Taxes are going to be based on value and or if you have a exemption.
