Anyone bought a Mitsubishi Triton recently?

Featured Replies

I had a 2 door 2.5L automatic Triton for 4 years which I sold early last year. It was very good. A friend of mine also sold, at about the same time, his top of the range Triton which he bought when they first came out. As he was impressed with his Triton he bought a new one, same model, but found it not to be as good as his original one.

Try fitting 3 seats for kids in the back of an extra cab...

post-22903-0-09352400-1403488861_thumb.j

All manufacturers make a 2-door mega/extra cab model in order to save on excise taxes (3% for 2-door pickups, 12% for 4-door pickups), This form factor also results in a larger tray area, but still "seats 5" (in actual use, not officially).

Does that mean they sell with 2 seats but can get the 3 extra back seats aftermarket?

The doors makes sense, just leaving back seats out seems odd.

I don't think I've ver seen one that left the dealership w/out a back bench seat fitted ;)

The rear bench is big enough to squeeze in 3 Thai adults/kids, but has no seat belts, no ISOFIX mounts for baby seats, and the insurance will only cover the driver + one passenger.

That doesn't seem to stop anybody though.

Anyways, back on point, the idea of the mega/extra/space/smart cab is cheap transport with a large tray, that can seat 5 out of the rain, or keep your shopping dry, or carry bkkjames' golf clubs (really, someone drives a pickup to golf?), for around 80-100K less than a 4-door due to lower taxes, and with cheaper road tax too.

sorry, instead of golf clubs one can carry their shirts on a hanger, a cooler full of warm Leo, office shoes and some antipersperant.

BKK James was spotted recently on the links at Suwan Golf and Country Club in Nakhon Pathom.
