Changing non-immigrant visa category inside Thailand possible?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My problems started when I applied for an ED-visa in London for an internship, as it was missing a document and they gave me a type 'O'-visa instead. I asked about it here on TV and was told I need to apply for a new one..

I would need the ED-visa to get an 'intern work permit' from this BOI company.

I'm now in Brussels and went to the local Thai Embassy with all the necessary documents again, but was told that they cannot give me a new visa because I already have the 'O' visa. They told me to change the visa type once I arrive in Thailand.

I told her I dont think it's possible but she insisted I can change it once I'm there if necessary. I've been googling the subject and nothing so far has come up suggesting that it would be possible.

Do you know if it's possible to change non-immigrant visa category once in Thailand?

Thanks!

You did a topic before about this. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/731246-london-thai-embassy-gave-me-an-o-visa-applied-for-ed-for-internship/

You cannot change non immigrant visa categories..

You will just have to try and get the work permit with documents from the company that you have the internship with. You stand a good chance of being able to do it since it is a company with BOI privileges.
