LED/LCD TV with built-in VCD/CD Player?

Featured Replies

I want to install flat-screen TVs in my new little resort, and it would be 'neater' to install wall-mounted TVs that have a built-in VCD/CD player.

Can anyone suggest make/models of TV that are sold in Thailand and have a built-in VCD/CD player?

Thanks - Simon

Any media that can go on a VCD or CD can go on a USB stick. Nearly all flat screen TVs now have USB ports.

Does anyone watch VCD these days?

DVD at the least would be the minimum.

Better, sell your customers a usb stick, it does not need to be big

and have a selection of films on your computer that you can put on the stick for them

for a nominal charge.

Since the stick is theirs you have no worries about getting them back

Many Thai / Chinese watch vcd's because they are cheaper.

Another alternative would be a NAS drive with DLNA server, a good selection of content on it, and TV's with DLNA support..

Quite a few of my customers buy DVDs or CDs that they want to watch/listen to in their room. So I don't want to be messing with thumb-drives. Plus on rainy days I can rent them blockbuster films on DVD.

In one of my other small hotels I do have external DVD/CD players - I just wanted to minimize the cabling etc between units.

Most Dvd/CD players built in or otherwise will play vcd's these days so should be no problem for you.

What size screen are you after Simon? I've seen many different tvs with built in VCD/DVD players available in Singapore (wrong TV frequency for Thailand sadly) however even there they are usually only 17-24" I did see a Dick Smith 32" with DVD on display in Australia recently but it's the only larger sized screen I've seen. Next time you're past a Tesco check there. I think I've seen some AOC TVs available there before with built in DVD players but they were small, only 19".
