Alexander Matusov. Now, first of all does that sound like a Russian name?

Does that matter at all?

I guess you missed the posts where certain forum members argued about ethnicity and names. Some members might know what I mean. And of course it does matter..

Let's just say...post-9891-0-11501500-1403688978.jpg

However look at the photo in one of the links provided by another member.

If i was Thai immigration of arresting officer, i would be worried

Wanted Russian Mafia caught in Sattahip

Alexander-Matusov-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- A Russian mafia gang leader was arrested in Sattahip while living on a retirement visa, police said on Wednesday.

Alexander Matusov was wanted back home for his alleged involvement in scores of killings and other criminal activities since 1995.

The Russian mafia boss was arrested on Monday in front of a supermarket in Thailand’s eastern seaside town of Sattahip in Chon Buri province.

His network “Chelkovo” was active from 1995 to 2009 and was notorious for killings, extortion and kidnappings in the Moscow and St. Petersburg areas, and were

His detention is very important to us, a Russian diplomat Alexey Falunin said in Bangkok.

The Russian authorities issued arrest warrants for Mr Matusov and other gang members for allegedly murdering four members of a rival gang in 1996.

Thai police said the 52-year-old first entered Thailand in 2009 and left before returning on a fake Armenian passport.

Mr Matusov had been living in Thailand on a retirement visa.

Thai immigration police had revoked his visa and were pushing for his deportation to Russia for prosecution.

You guess wrong. I'm surprised that you continue the ridiculous argument.

Oh no... and now Thailand is about to be downgraded to Tier 2 by the Non Governmental Organisations in charge of establishing where it's safest for criminals to retire and spend their hard-earned money ?

Get him kicked out and let the Russian guys deal with him. Maybe he will be one of the first people to say "please let me stay in a Thai jail, Don't send me back"

No. The first who said that was probably Viktor Bout.

Viktor Bout wanted to the be sent to Russia because he could be released there, what he didn't want was to be sent to the USA where he was going to get 25yrs ++

The Russians really didn't want him in front of US courts either as they were worried about what he would say about internal russian arms movements.

returning on a fake Armenian passport

so the visa is either a fake or another immigration/consulate payoff along the line ................non Thai mafia is not allowed on the work permit list also

a fake passport has nothing to do with the visa given by an ambassy ....if thais new it was fake i doubt very much they would have given it.

lets put a positive spin on this - the police are doing a great job by continually unearthing these 'scum' - let them get on with it.

We all laugh at the finger pointing photo shoots etc etc but I am more and more impressed by the crimes that are tidied up quickly. Sure lots to be done but with finite resources I don't think they're doing a bad job!

Indeed.

Although, sadly, less finger pointing in related photos recently.

I'm all for keeping the tradition. Makes things much clearer when looking at the pics.

This guy was probably going into (or coming out of) TescoLotus, the only big store in Sattahip. I frequently shop there. I'm so glad I never accidentally 'bumped into' him down one of the aisles!!

Right ! Have you seen the guy's face ? Bumping into him is not an option. I wouldn't want to be the judge who looks at him in the eye and announces the lifetime sentence... eeeeek

I don't know how they (the police) can pick out one mafia type from the assembled farang group but can't find one Thai mafia type?? Very strange? whistling.gifwai.gif

But they all look alike. Said "tongue in cheek". Sorry, could not help myself!

Nice one!! One down and quite a few to go methinks. If the police or military were to just go into some bars/discos on walking street, Pattaya, they will find a few more. Don't blame Thailand for this, they are everywhere from Thailand to Spain to the UK and a lot of these mafia types have more money than God, and as we see, money talks in a lot of countries, not just here.

I suspect some of these types are moving to all areas of the country....seems to be a recent influx to CM area......

True a growing number of Russians in Chiangmai now. In the last few months alone we have about 8 who have moved into our little gated community

They are doing a very good job since the Army took control.

another loser russian ''putin on the dog''..................if russia didnt have xxx porn star woman woman and gas for sale, they wouldnt have a freind in the world..

Funny how when a scumbag Russian is arrested, for some people all Russians become objects of contempt. Yet we forget it was Russia/USSR that defeated napoleon and nazi germany to free Europe from two megalomaniac dictators.

I started off not liking the coup on principle, but I would bet your pension that army is building fire under police backsides so it is more expedient to grab these guys than to keep on accepting tea money to overlook.

Is it hard to tell which passport belongs to which country?facepalm.gif
