Baht Bus Licence

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am new to the forum.

I understand that some foreigners own Baht buses and either let their girlfriend's or their families drive them, or alternatively, rent them out.

I would like to buy a Baht bus for my Thai girlfriend to run. Does anyone know how to obtain a licence number?

If there are any out there that own one, I would appreciate any advice I can get.

Thanks.

Martin

I know of no farangie baht bus owners.

I would say the best way is, if your girlfriend really wants one, then get her to enquire to a local Thai baht bus driver.

I would think you have to buy an existing Baht bus including its registration at a heavy premium of course, each municipality has a set number of vehicle licences for what they think is feasible and i wouldn't think they would issue any extra ones unless circumstances change ie large influx of population so it's a closed shop. The girlfriend of course would have to pass the appropriate driving test for a baht bus (maybewhistling.gif )

I'd also think there are some big connections behind that just like there is with taxi's both motocy and cars, maybe not something any of you'd like to be up against.. There's a reason they all have the same colors and work their own hoods if you know what I mean?
