Ive recently become an official old age pensioner rolleyes.gif and now receive my Uk state pension directly into my Thai bank , ive checked out a few old posts on the subject of UK pension confirmation letters , but thought I would ask here to see if any things changed.

In the past ive always applied for a yearly visa extension based on being married to a Thai national and made sure I had the required 400,000 Baht in my Thai bank , on my next yearly visa extension visit to immigration it will be the first time I have a regular monthly pension payment amount of money showing in my Thai bank book. I have read a bit about a letter issued by the British embassy in Thailand that confirms you have a British state pension and this confirmation letter can be used when applying for a visa extension

So have I got this right whistling.gif

I can still apply for the pension conformation letter by post from the British Embasy in Bangkok

Is this the right application form I have to fill in---

http://https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/301359/Publication._Pension_2014._Master.pdf

On the Embassy pension confirmation letter form it states -

Please ensure the pension/income evidence you provide is in a form that is simple and easy to understand and shows clearly the key financial amounts that are required for inclusion in the letter

I have a letter from the UK pension service confirming the monthly pension amount and when it starts , would this letter do as pension/income evidence ?

My current monthly pension amount is 25,500 Baht - ( yearly 306,000 Baht )

The current amount required in a Thai bank for an extension based on marriage to a Thai is 400,000 Baht

So the confirmation letter shows I have a yearly pension amount of 306,000 Baht , which taken off the 400,000 Baht means that I will only have to show an amount of 94,000 Baht in my Thai bank when I apply for the visa extension based on marriage to a Thai.

Does the 94,000 Baht still have to be in my Thai bank book for two months before applying for the visa extension ?

Have I missed out any thing , any advice / tips for this newbie pensioner on using the pension confirmation letter is most welcome .

This is the actual Embassy link with info on applying for an income confirmation letter (yours doesn't seem to work):

Your current monthly 25,500 THB pension income (which I assume relates entirely to the UK State Pension) won't by itself be sufficient for seeking a further marriage extension on the basis of an Embassy letter - for which the minimum Immigration requirement is 40,000 THB per month.

So, unless you are also in receipt of an occupational pension and/or rental income derived in the UK which would bring your total monthly income up to at least 40,000 THB, I strongly recommend that you continue proving your income to Immigration for marriage extension of stay purposes on the basis of 400,000 THB in the bank.

I should also have made the point that the "combination" method of proving income (monthly income + bank balance to make a total of 400,000 THB) is not possible in the case of marriage extensions, only retirement ones (for which the minimum monthly income is 65,000 THB and bank balance 800,000 THB).

The combination option for retirement is is a total of 800k baht of both income and money in the bank. For example 600k baht income and 200k baht in the bank.

As said there is no combination of income and money in the bank option for extensions of stay based upon marriage.

Bit of better news. Ive just finished my first year on the same amount asyou. However the pension is paid 4 weekly so you get 13 payments every year. Ive host had my bumper month.

So 331,500 for the year.

Cheers mike
