Settlement Visa Application and Registered Home Address

Featured Replies

I would appreciate any comments/advice regarding registered home address for a Settlement Visa application

By way of background................my wife attended IOM offices in Bangkok for her TB test and after receiving her certificate she noticed that the residential address was as stated on her ID card and not as she had stated on her application. The people at IOM said they could only use the ID card residential address irrespective of where my wife currently resides.............The address on her ID card reflects our last owned property which was sold in preparation for our relocation to the UK.................. We now live in rented accommodation.

My wife says that it would not be normal practice to update her ID card address for a rental address but I'm concerned this may cause problems with her visa application.......... To summarize the situation at present:

- Wife's ID card address details reflects our last owned property which was sold in July 2013

- The same address appears on the TB Certificate however this is not our current residential address as we currently rent

- Wife's House Book address reflects her sisters home address, this was necessary when she attended the Land Office to sell our last property and she again stated that she could not use a rental address for the house book update

I think I'm correct is saying that the House Book is not required for settlement.............So maybe thats of no concern??

If we could change the ID card residential address it would then differ from the address stated on the TB cert..............Would that cause an issue??

Is any corrective action necessary/recommended or is this situation unlikely to cause difficulties with her Settlement Visa application??

You don't say which country she is applying to. The following is applicable to UK applications only; I cannot say whether other countries would be the same.

On the form, put her current address, then include a brief explanation of why this is different to her ID card and TB certificate as you have above.
