THAI's first Dreamliner to arrive Friday

BANGKOK: -- Thai Airways International announced Thursday its first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner will arrive at Suvarnabhumi airport Friday from the United States.

It said the plane will land at the airport at 3.00 p.m. tomorrow.

THAI earlier said that in this summer it will take delivery of the first two of six new Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners it has on order.

The Boeing 787 is a mid-sized aircraft, having 264 seats in THAI’s version. It is designed to fly distances of up to 15,200 kilometres, which suits the type of regional and intermediate intercontinental routes operated by THAI.

It offers greatly improved fuel efficiency, requiring 20 percent less fuel than similarly sized jets, resulting in reduced environmental impact. The latest generation Rolls Royce Trent engines contribute to this enhanced fuel efficiency. Key factors in the achievement of high performance include new technologies developed by Boeing for building the aircraft, such as composite materials which make up 50 percent of the primary structure, including fuselage and wings.

THAI’s Dreamliners offer 24 seats in Royal Silk Class plus 240 seats for Economy Class in which all passengers can enjoy a number of innovations to make their flights more relaxing and rewarding.

For increased comfort, the cabin environment has been designed to supply more beneficial levels of humidity and air pressure, while new filtration technologies maintain the maximum quality of air purity.

The windows of the Boeing 787 are larger than those of other aircraft types, giving passengers a better view.

Noise level inside the cabin has also been reduced by innovative design, and THAI is equipping its new jets with the latest eX3 Audio Video On Demand (AVOD) entertainment system and in-seat communication facilities.

Adding to all these practical advantages are the benefits to passengers of THAI’s renowned Royal Orchid Service which has earned Thailand’s national carrier the reputation for being “Smooth as silk”, it said.

THAI earlier announced its Dreamliner flights will be launched, initially, to Perth from July 1, 2014, and to Tokyo Haneda from August 1.

Pity the public won't be able to avail of its services as all seats will be taken up by the chairman, directors, families, relatives and friends of friends, in-laws, their cooks, gardeners, butlers, cleaners and maids!!

The army has slowly stopped this as it should be. And if you pay, why shouldn't you be able to enjoy services?

I flew on one of Royal Brunei's Dreamliners recently and they are very nice, makes a comfortable flight.

Indeed! Now off to the back of the bus with you (that's turn right after you step through the door).

In another slightly bogus thread where someone claimed seeing it already flying in and out of Chiang Mai, is there any truth in the rumor that it will be on one of the CNX daily hops for crew familiarization before doing the regular Perth flights... that they say they started 2 weeks ago??!!

To update the info I posted on another B787 thread

The CNX flights should be but not necessarily on everyday

No doubt the Bangkok to Sydney flight will keep the antique 747's for a few more years crying.gif

They've just announced one of the Sydney flights - the four days a week one - will be switching to 777s.

But the 747s - my wife flew on one five weeks ago, says it is way more comfortable than Emirates 777s. Bigger seats with more padding, more legroom. They have seatback IFE now too.

I agree. I would prefer the old 747 before 777 any time. Be careful what you wish for.

Emirates crams 10 seats across in cattle class on the 777, as opposed to most other airlines (not all, but most), which have 9 seats across. Tried it once, never again. Quite possibly the most uncomfortable international trip I have ever been on.

Just hope the get rid of the grumpy hostie's. I asked for a drink of water mid flight , but was told next time to get it myself; plus they took the seats near the exit doors, but only used them for about an hour of the flight. Eremites are better
