July 19, 201411 yr Looks to me that there are not a lot of options to choose from. I'm with KPP cable but this is getting worse by the week. From reading elsewhere 3BBB is no good and neither is True. So whats left? No TOT pls been there done that.
July 19, 201411 yr I'm in Rawi and Kata with 3BB. There is the occasional hickup, but in general no problems, and never major problems.
July 19, 201411 yr Looking at CRISP it really seems to depends on where you are in Rawai. I had KPP before and it was great, plus I had a local number to call if there was an outage. Now I have 3BB and this house and the previous one it was great. A few years ago I had to drop 3BB because of all the problems but it seems to have gotten much better. The sweetspot seems to be the 900ish baht 13m down and 1m up. Lower contention ratio, so I am told.
July 19, 201411 yr Looking at CRISP I should not have posted at all. I got 3.676 kb/s I'm on KPP too. I just got 3,569 kb/s. I use to have 3BB as well. When we left for 8 months I shut them both off. 3BB wanted some ridiculous fee to reconnect. Minimal fee with KPP.
July 19, 201411 yr 3bb has been excellent for the last 3 months with no problems Before we and our neighbor had a lot of connection problems, he switched to TOT and now has had connection problems with them, what's good this month may not be next month
July 19, 201411 yr I've had 3BB in Rawai for about 3 years. Good speed and I would estimate 99.99% uptime.
July 19, 201411 yr Thai ISP's are known to cheat international speed tests via caching. What you see may not be what you get. Try multiple servers to get a true read.
July 19, 201411 yr Thai ISP's are known to cheat international speed tests via caching. What you see may not be what you get. Try multiple servers to get a true read. That is correct. I am getting up to 8 Mb/s measuring downloads on uncached files.
July 19, 201411 yr Author I know about caching, therefore i ping and do traceroute n stuff like that. Actually speed is not the problem most times it is the lack of constants. Hope you know what i mean. If a provider would just give you a minimum of 4 MB then everything would be just fine, but they don't. The speed is like a jojo and depends a lot of the the time of day
July 19, 201411 yr I live in Nai Harn so If information about service in Nai Harn helps here is my current experience. I have services from CAT and use a wireless modem. Service rarely drops, but speed seems related to time of day. A friend, who also lives on Nai, uses 3BB. Service pretty reliable and speed a bit better than CAT. Both cost about 950 including VAT. Do not recall the down and upload service both of us buy, but not the least expensive.

That'll be the second tier 13mbps down and 1mpbs up I mentioned earlier. 10mbps down and 512kbps up is the 590B one. Higher contention ratio the 590B one has. Essentially more people fighting for bandwidth on the same line/hub as you. That is actually what I have in the house I just moved into. It's OK but the 13mbps at the previous house was better. Torrents screamed at over 1mbps. Now I get about 500kbps with torrents with the 590B line. I will be upgrading next time I go past the office. Also international connections are advertised as better on the 950B package. 3BB's phone support and general customer service has gotten much better too. They can often fix problems in a few moments on the phone, or send a tech out quickly.
July 20, 201411 yr On my 950 baht package I get a consistent 1.2 MB/s download on torrents which converts to 9.7 Mb/s.
July 20, 201411 yr On my 950 baht package I get a consistent 1.2 MB/s download on torrents which converts to 9.7 Mb/s. That's what I get on CAT Hi net, which I think is 799 baht. Service is pretty reliable, but once a month there's a few hours of having to use 3g as cat seems to drop.
