Thousands march for Gaza in London, clashes in Paris over Israeli onslaught

64 soldiers were killed by Hamas terrorists ad thousands of rockets shot at Israeli homes. It is not exactly surprising the IDF has no love for their enemy.

And if you need further evidence of the twisted motivations of some Israelis and IDF members - some Gazan residents found that their homes had been used as bases by Israeli troops during the war. One such family returning home, the Guardian reported yesterday, to find that IDF soldiers had thrown TV, fridge, and computers from upstairs windows and slashed furniture. The IDF had also carved the words "F--- Hamas" into a concrete wall in the staircase. "Burn Gaza down" and "Good Arab = dead Arab" were engraved on a coffee table in the house.

The Guardian also reports that Beit Hanoun girls' school in Gaza was subject to similar messages of hate from IDF soldiers. "You will be f----- here" and "Don't forget it's time for you to die" were chalked in English on blackboards. Lovely messages to leave for young girls.

Frankly, it is both despicable and shameful that you would try to defend the comments concerning the behaviour of the IDF in CBR250's post. So is it school girls that are the enemy of the IDF? Funny, I thought you had been telling us it was Hamas they were after. There are civilised people and uncivilised people, let the reader of your comments be the judge of where you stand.

Israel was formed by Israeli terrorists by driving out British Troops from Palestine.

How can you call people that have had their land stolen from them terrorists? I thought the word was freedom fighters.

The only reason Israel exists is because it provides a foothold for the US in the Middle East.

You mean unsubstantiated claims that they trashed someone's home and wrote on the walls? I think there are bigger fish to fry than those. rolleyes.gif

You need a few (dozen) history lessons. The British were driven out by both the Arabs AND  the Jews because they stabbed both sides in the back.

Israel exists because the UN granted them their own country and they defeated 5 huge Arabs armies that declared war on them and tried to prevent it. The Palestinian Arabs refused the UN deal for their own country and have never had one in recorded history. Their land was not stolen, because very few of them ever owned any. They were mostly tenant farmers for other Arabs in surrounding countries.

I don't need any history lessons and most Western Jews, whom I respect, wanted nothing to do with the formation of Israel and with hindsight they were the smartest of the bunch.

If it's the conduct of some of the Israeli military that has got you frothing I suggest you avert your gaze from every other army or militia in the world or you'll likely have a thrombosis.

That is not the point. Women and children are being targeted just as the Israelis did with cluster bombs in Lebanon 6-7 years back.

They haven't got the nuts to go full out and slaughter the Palestinians because they would get crushed by the Arab World.

Targeted? You mean the IDF deliberately targets innocent civilians?

The Arab World will crush them? Like they did in 1967? Or you think the Arab world actually care much about the Palestinians? The way Egypt cares about them so much?

UG just incase you missed it Palestine was recorded as early as the 5th century BC

Not the same Palestine, not the same people, most of them not even remotely related to the people who call themselves the Palestinains nowadays.

We've been over and over this on these threads, you really ought to do some reading as it gets boring repeating the same things.

Well, there is usually a handful of moronic rogue soldiers in every army, in every war. Discovery of the century. The IDF try and imprison such soldiers usually. (and rightfully so)

I heard Hamas were writing some nice statements on Gaza walls too...oh, wait, they are just decapitating, sorry.

You would think that because "Israel exists because the UN granted them their own country", they might comply with UN resolutions but......nope.....not 1, they never have done.

Actually, that is - yet another - lie - Israel has complied with a number of UN resolutions.

However, they do ignore many of them, because they are so numerous and so unfairly applied. The U.N. General Assembly in 2013 adopted a total of 21 resolutions singling out Israel for criticism and 4 resolutions for the rest of the world combined.
There were zero UNGA resolutions on serious and systematic abuses committed by China, Egypt, Pakistan, Cuba, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Zimbabwe, nor on many other major perpetrators of harsh violations of human rights.

Can someone please remind me, what non civilian targets were the 1.000's of Hamas rockets aimed at?

And the UN represents the whole World - the United Nations, each vote being from an Ambassador from each nation. Maybe somebody is trying to tell you something, you work it out! Whether you deem it unfair or not they are UN resolutions and they are ignored. We used non-compliance of UN resolutions as an excuse to go to war with Iraq. Israel complies with non of the resolutions concerning nuclear weapons. One day the beast will really bite and you and your kin will think OMG!

During the period between 1967 and 2000, Iraq was the subject of 69 Security Council resolutions. By comparison, Israel, our closest "ally" in the Middle East, has been the subject of 138 resolutions. Not surprisingly, most of those resolutions call upon Israel to comply with basic principles of international law embodied by the UN Charter. Many of them condemn actions taken by Israel and call upon Israel on more than one occasion to comply with previous resolutions that Israel ignored and continues to ignore to this day.

not 1? they have never complied with UN resolutions? Keep on spreading lies, twisting facts and selective citing, I see, ah, Gentleman? oh, did you hint yesterday that you are unbiased? right...

The UN (especially the general assembly) is very very well known for its anti-Israeli  automatic majority of Arab-countries since 1948: http://www.unwatch.org/site/c.bdKKISNqEmG/b.1359197/k.6748/UN_Israel__AntiSemitism.htm

The UN and many members of the public believe reports that there is evidence Israel and the IDF deliberately targeted Gazan civilians. The UN estimates that over 70% of Gazan casualties were civilians. Over 400 of the nearly 2,000 dead were children. That is, over 20% of deaths were children. UN Secretary General Ban ki-moon referred to the attacks on the UN refuges in schools as a "a moral outrage and a criminal act”. Harsh words from the usually diplomatic statesman.

Israel is either totally inept at using its high tech weaponry, or it targeted civilians. If it used artillery, missiles, tank shells, drones, naval bombardments etc so poorly that it led to indiscriminate and widespread killing of civilians - that is a war crime. If it used the weapons to target civilians - that is a war crime.

Amnesty International is now accusing Israel and the IDF of deliberately targeting not only civilians, but health care workers and ambulances during the recent conflict. Further evidence of war crimes.

Same old Hamas propaganda like the previous operation in Gaza. Same old biased UN. Same investigations, which will lead to the same conclusions.

Do you mean these ambulances and UNRWA schools?

The whole foundation of what exists now is because they ignored UN designated borders in the first place

In the 1948 war, Israel pushed well beyond the UN-designated borders to claim land that was to have been part of a Palestine state, including the western half of Jerusalem. They also uprooted and expelled entire Palestinian communities, creating about 700,000 refugees, whose descendants now number 7 million and are still considered refugees

au contraire. You don't seem to know my arguments or my allies.

Jews are actually well known to be very very related to the new Israelis and nowaday-Jews, simply because 99% of Jews are born Jews and unlike other religions that encourage people or sometime force people to convert to theirs, Judaism doesn't. In fact, it's quite difficult to convert to become a Jew if one wishes to.

I thought a "former IDF soldier" should know these facts....very "legit" your claim was...

The sad thing about this whole thing, the "new" Israel was created to create a country where people who claimed jewish roots could be free of persecution, oppression, which people of jewish ancestory have been subjected in many parts of the world over many hundreds or possibly thousands of years, but once getting their "place in the sun" they are have been persecuting, and subjecting another group of peoples to the same oppression people of jewish ancestory were subjected to during their time in the "wilderness"

I was under the weird impression that when they got their "place in the sun" they were immediately attacked by all their lovely Arab neighbors who intended to slaughter them.

The "Palestinian territories" were not even part of Israel until 1967.

Israel has been trying to make peace with the Palestinians for years. Several governments tried and failed.

Maybe this guy can explain to you why:

Yes they have and in a token of good will they removed occupying troops from Gaza in 2005, but blockaded the whole territory and turned Gaza in to what some human right organisations call an open air prision or even a ghetto

Further Israeli settlers have moved into the west bank in violation of international law, which prohibits an occupying force moving its citizens into occupied territory, but although officially the Israeli goverment doesnt support this, they are not active on getting them removed either and they slowly and "quietly" allowing land grabbing to occur

I dont know where I read it but remember quote from someone which went along the lines of:

Both sides have squandered peace and perpetuated conflict, but palestinians today bear most of the suffering

Please spare me the sermon on how Israel is the innocent and just party in this conflict, only wanting peace, both sides are as bad as each other
