During the last 30 days of my non O visa I had intended applying for an extension based on retirement income.

However my father died suddenly in the UK and I had to return before I could extend.

My non O has now expired and I intend to return to Thailand mid September.

My question is what visa options do I have ?

I would like to get an extension of stay based on retirement income as before(I realise I can only do this in Thailand?),but am not aware of what is the best/easiest route from where I am now?.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Take exactly the very same route again. Buy yourself a proper Non Imm O and apply during the last 30 days of that VISA

So you got a re entry stamp and your visa expired when in the uk? If so you have to reapply, start again at consulate in uk

If he had a single entry non-imm O it would have been "used" when he first entered Thailand and therefore cancelled then. A single-entry visa is only good for that ... a single entry. I don't think he said anything about a re-entry stamp and even if he did get one, it would not extend his stay beyond the 90 days he was given when he first entered.

The O/P is pretty much limited to getting (1) a non-Imm O, (2) the O-A which many people consider more trouble than it's worth ... if available, or(3) a tourist visa if he wanted to go through the hassle of getting the entry converted to non-Imm O by immigrations if he was qualified for the retirement extension followed by applying for the extension.

Doing what he did the first time with non-Imm-O and then doing the extension of stay based on retirement seems the most straight forward, but he should also get a re-entry permit in case he needs to travel so that the extension remains valid.

I have a letter from the UK embassy verifying my income, and would ask how long is this valid for acceptance at Jomtien immigration? It is only 2 weeks old at the moment.

If my request for extension of stay is granted,I presume it will be valid for 4 x 90 days? and then another applied for??

I will have to go back to the UK during this period and will request the appropiate permission to leave Thailand, keeping my extension of stay valid.

Should I be out of Thailand for 3 months, does this mean the clock 'stops ticking' on my 1 years extension or will it remain valid for the one year from it's grant date?

thankyou

Embassy income confirmation letters should be valid for 6 months from the date of issue.

Your extension will be valid for 365 days (or 366 days in a leap year) and then you will need to apply for another one.

The clock will not stop ticking on your extension for however long you are out of Thailand. It will remain valid for 365 days regardless.

After the 365 days ,when I APPLY FOR A NEW EXTENSION OF STAY,will it be another embassy letter and pension confirmations?
