Thailand organizes Asia-Pacific Regional Education Conference (APREC)

BANGKOK, 6 August 2014 (NNT) -UNESCO Bangkok is organizing the Asia-Pacific Regional Education Conference (APREC) in order to discuss progress made in Education for All (EFA). The conference will be discussing issues, challenges and priorities for education in post 2015.


UNESCO Bangkok is playing host in organizing a regional education conference in Bangkok, which runs till August 8, 2014. The insightful outcomes will be parts of education development, as the conference would be conducting a critical review of the EFA progress.

The discussion focuses on the importance of education as an essential condition to reinforce sustainable development and economic growth. Education is recognized as one of the most critical investments that help develop nations’ capacity and offer long-term solutions to reducing inequalities and eradicating poverty.

The conference is joined by ministers and high-level officials of ministries of education from countries in the region and other stakeholders in the field of education in a bid to discuss issues and challenges in a wide perspective and pointing directions and addressing access for all children at all levels of education.

In addition, the results of the meeting will also be used to develop better Thai education standards and to formulate a roadmap for education reform.

Arrest warrants sought for 2 men over Betong attack

BANGKOK: -- Police are seeking an arrest warrant for a Bannang Sata native, who was allegedly found to be involved in the car bomb attack in downtown Yala's Betong district, a source in the investigation team said Wednesday.

Faosi Klupae, 33, was reportedly identified by security camera footage as a

person who drove the explosive-loaded pick-up truck to the scene.

The source said police also suspected that Bannang Sata native Lukman

Pulaprapeh, 26, who is wanted for another case in January 2008, was also in

the pick-up truck with Faosi, as per the security camera footage. Police are

gathering evidence in order to seek an arrest warrant for him.
