OP, from numerous posts on ThaiVisa many people have opened Thai bank accounts with nothing more than a 15/30 day stamp; while others needed to show a long term visa or work permit.  A lot depends on the branch you try to open an account at and how they feel about farangs.   All you can do is walk into a bank branch and see what happens...if that branch rejects opening an account...walk down the soi and try another branch...repeat until you find a branch that will open an account for you.  Good luck.

Still the best chances with Kasikorn bank.

Misc. Pattaya branches are known to open accounts painless.

Don't know about Bangkok.
