I think those are closer to the exact meaning, but you don't hear them spoken very much. Perhaps the OP can let us know more about the context?

How about the following?

 

ปากกัดตีนถีบ - to struggle; endeavor; live from hand to mouth; struggle just to put food on the table; live a very meager existence

 

"ถึงแม้ว่าแม่ต้องทำงานปากกัดตีนถีบ แม่ก็ต้องส่งเสียให้ลูกเรียนจนจบให้ได้"

"Even though I (your mother) have to struggle just to put food on the table, I must continue to support you without fail until you complete your studies."
