Expensive and new policies are not readily available for over-65s. But there are some around. Search the insurance forum as this subject has been done to death on TV!

I was quoted 262K baht for one year with no current medical problems covered about 4 years ago
Probably more now with inflation, just self insure if you can afford it, that's what I do and
keep my private health insurance up to date in Australia which only costs me about $1000/ 30K baht a year
which covers me for a private room and treatment in a top private hospital

Er, one problem...if you want to use your Aussie Health Insurance, you have to GO TO AUSTRALIA. They won't cover you here, which is a real pain and pretty dumb on the part of Insurers as it is a whole lot cheaper to go to hospital here than in Oz.

You can be sure insurers have a very good idea what it would cost and bring them if they included cover here.
