The lack of Russian tourists coming to Pattaya has affected the Pattaya market because they spend more money than any other tourists that visit Pattaya. The main cause of the decreasing amount of Russian tourists and other tourists might because of the economic problem with the army running the country and the weakening money value because of the Ukraine war crisis that affecting Russia too and their currency is down 10%. Many small travel agencies have gradually closed their businesses while the big travel agencies in Pattaya city such as Pegus (Thailand) Co., Ltd. have continued doing business. Many hotel business operators in Pattaya city reveal that the hotel business in Pattaya city has been moderately affected from the decreasing amount of Russian tourists because of the political unrest and the curfew which has been enforced. Popular Post Barefoot
Another likely factor is that several very large Russian travel agencies have gone under financially, leaving tens of thousands of travelers stranded around the globe. They were being run like pyramid schemes until their inevitable collapse. Russians are likely a little skittish on trusting the remaining travel agencies.

Popular Post hansnl
Best news I have heard all week! I wonder from which country you are from . Russian represent a big amount of money for Hotels , resorts , boat trips , restaurants , supermarkets , massage etc ..... Maybe their lower turn over doesnt concern you .... It is quite simple, the Russian tourist spend money, that is good. The Russians bring their own "amusement" workers, which is not good. The Russian tourists bring down the number of other western tourists, which is definitely not good, As for the Chinese tourists, they are mostly package tourists, and spend a minimal amount in the local market.
Popular Post SNGLIFE
Real world explanations could also be the sanctions recently imposed on Russian banks. Hard to get money out of the ATM abroad if the Russian clearing banks have been cut off. Harder still to transfer large sums at a time. That would affect travel companies needing to make bookings and the individual tourist. Thank goodness we don't have them taking over Isaan. Rudest expletives on the planet.
Shurup
The Russian tourists bring down the number of other western tourists, which is definitely not good, This is a Myth, I'm sure no one does any sorts of researches on how many Russians are in Patts before coming there. I personally find the Chinese x10 more annoying (Yanks come close 2nd by the way), but it's nothing to affect my decision to travel to any certain place or not.
Popular Post starky
where do they spend more money than other tourists pray tell? By buying 1 barcadi breezer or big bottle of chang from 7/11 than wandering around the sois with sour looks on their mugs. Tighter than a fishes arse the ones i've encountered
Popular Post NoBrainer
The Russians around Pratumnak won't even spend money for a baht bus. They walk back & forth to walking street, and I often see them buying there drinks in 7-11 and trying to walk into bars with their store bought drinks. Not too many of them are staying in 4-5 star hotels either.
Popular Post HUAHIN62
This correspond with the figure I saw that tourist arrivals overall decreased 24% YoY (Bloomberg prelim). If this trend continue the GDP will take a major hit. Although the tourism industry only contribute +-8% to the GDP, it supports many other industries (food, transport etc.). The other issue is that the tourist industry is very labor intensive and if there is a severe downturn many SME's will fail and unemployment will increase.
