ROYAL HOUSEHOLD BUREAU
Doctors recommend extra nutrients for HM the King

BANGKOK: -- Doctors have recommended that His Majesty the King take additional nutrients via intravenous feeding, according to the Royal Household Bureau's statement.

The parenteral nutrition will allow His Majesty to regain his health faster." The recommendation was made in response to the results of a nutritional and vitamin test.

The much-revered monarch, who turns 87 in December, is now undergoing comprehensive health checks at Siriraj Hospital.

Blood tests suggest His Majesty has not had any major inflammation of body parts, except minor inflammation in his stomach - for which doctors have prescribed medicines.

The King was admitted to the Bangkok hospital last Wednesday for checkups, after spending about a year at his seaside palace in Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

The Royal Household Bureau said His Majesty's body temperature, breathing, blood pressure and heart were functioning normally.

It said X-rays showed his lungs were also normal, while electrocardiography tests did not detect any change in the condition of his heart compared to results from previous tests.
