webfact
US actor Robin Williams found dead at home SAN FRANCISCO: -- US actor Robin Williams has been found dead, aged 63, in an apparent suicide, California police say. Marin County Police said he was pronounced dead at his home shortly after officials responded to an emergency call around noon local time. Williams was famous for films such as Good Morning Vietnam and Dead Poets Society and won an Oscar for his role in Good Will Hunting. He had been open in the past about his struggles with alcohol and drugs. He had recently returned to a rehabilitation centre to "fine-tune" his sobriety, the Los Angeles Times reported in July. "At this time, the Sheriff's Office Coroner Division suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made," police said in a statement. In a statement, Williams' wife, Susan Schneider, said she was "utterly heartbroken".Full story: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-28749702 [bbc]2014-08-12[/bbc]

Popular Post tifino
sad - no more "humour, -ork -ork" farewelling, parting quote, excerpt: Politician: "You know I'd like to thank you for the time and trouble in bringing this to my attention. Before you go, I would like to present you with one of my souvenir pens." Mork: "Look, if I wanted a pen and coffee I'd have mugged a waitress. You know what, I don't need any more pens. Look at this." [Mork pulls a handful of pens out of his jacket pocket] Mork: "...And look at that, it's a Ronald Reagan pen, it's got no point" Edited August 12, 2014 by tifino

Bellacissa
So incredibly sad. I grew up watching him on everything from Mork and Mindy to Mrs. Doubtfire. He was an incredible actor and a great man. He will be missed.
Popular Post phuketsub
You could always tell he was troubled at heart, even when doing comedy. Please let's not just blame this on alcohol, which is just a substance. I was never a fan, but may he rest in peace and be appreciated for the joy he brought to many.

keemapoot
Some early background on this extraordinary talent. He will be missed: Robin Williams net worth: Robin Williams was an American Actor and comedian who had a net worth of $50 million. Robin Williams was born on July 21st, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois. Williams grew up in a very prominent family. His father, Robert was a senior executive at Lincoln-Mercury Motors in charge of the Midwest area and his mother, Lauren, was a former model from New Orleans. Before high school, Robin and his family moved to the San Francisco Bay Area. As a child, Robin was a shy kid who hardly spoke. One of the only early inclinations that he might grow up to be a comic was his dead-on impersonation of his grandmother. Beyond that, he really didn't come out of his shell until he began to participate in high school plays. http://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-celebrities/actors/robin-williams-net-worth/

Popular Post mrtoad
The tragic death of Robin Williams just goes to show that Depression affects all segments of society - it doesn't discriminate. A massive loss to both the Movie and Recovery community - a man who has made a significant impact upon many peoples lives. I hope that from this tragedy, that more awareness and compassion for people suffering with Mental Illness will be raised. RIP
Jinjo14
Shocked .... The chameleon of actors IMO .... Acting brilliantly both in comedy and 'dark' roles. Dark role movies which stand out one hour photo and insomnia with al Pacino. May you rest in peace Sir Williams!

bannork
Terrible news, it's almost unbelievable that someone so funny, able to pull out one liners on a talk show that just had you cracking up, never knowing which direction his zany humour would take you next, unbelievable that someone like that could be so depressed as to take his life. My sister suffered from depression for 2 years after her marriage broke down. She said it was hell. So sad, but thank you Robin for all the laughs. Popular Post keemapoot
He was brilliant, but exhausting to watch. He had unbelievable amounts of energy. He always seemed to me that he was always trying too hard - too hard to be funny, loved, and appreciated. He overachieved on all those points as few have, yet I suppose it was never enough. The great ones always fly too close to the sun....
