I have read a number of threads online and haven't found exactly what I am after.

My ex-wife has agreed to give me full parental rights and custody of our son so that I can then move to home home country with my son. When we divorced we simply wrote a form at the Amphur whilst writing the divorce certificate.. Is changing the parental rights and child custody details as simple as going to the Amphur together and amending/writing a new form?

If so, does anyone know what form number or where I could obtain that form prior to visiting the Amphur with my ex? The document number we made last time was คร.6

Mario's advice is surely good...but all we did was: She wrote a paper, accompanied by copies of her ID/Tabian Baan/Passport, that I was free to travel/live where I wanted with the children, including taking them out of the country. They have my surname. We had the paper notarised by the UK consulate in CM. Children have UK/Thai passports. No-one has ever taken the slightest notice nor interest, neither here nor in the UK. Maybe a different country not the same?

That is certainly an option, but doesn't give the OP sole custody over the child and means that the mother can always come back on her decision. But the longer the OP takes care of the child the more difficult it will be for the mother to change that the child lives with the father.

I don't know if this is possible or if you have to go through court.

You could contact Isaanlawyers for advise on this.

Mario2008,

A bit of a late reply but I wanted to note this to close the topic.

I started a thread in the 'ask the lawyer' forum but received no answer.

In the end, I went to the Amphur with my ex-wife, copy of my passport, copy of her passport, copy of our childs birth certificate and all originals including our divorce agreement. They made a new document with the required amendments free of charge. All done in 20mins.
